Lets just hope that any netcode problems have been ironed out of the game, because it seems that BF1942 went gold on Monday, and is due for release mid-September (http://www.gonegold.com/#1942) .

Personally, I’ve yet to play the MP demo because I really can’t be ar*ed downloading a 130mb file through my ageing Diamond Supra. I’ve played the SP demo from back to front and what I’ve seen so far is pretty encouraging. Still, what with all the worries about the netcode, I really hope they’ve sorted everything out. What we don’t need is another potentially cracking game being fu*ked over by naff internet play. It would be nice if everyone could have a stab at BF1942 (56kers and phat-pipers alike) because it’s releases like this that are pushing internet gaming in the right direction.

Fingers crossed.

well im worried by this news.
they are shipping out for duplication? they mean theyre burning all the cds and getting the packaging sorted?

cos if so it dont look rosy.

they released this demo not even 5 days ago, a demo which was very poor to say the least.
how much can they expect to have changed it in the 5 days?

ill expect this game to require a patch within a week of release, mark my words.

yeah.... grumpy told me this yesturday.... I say "ug"

I hope they patch it fast, or realese a better dedicated server or something to fix all these lag probs. Some serves fine, others not. Its so odd. I can't figure why wireplay one still lags with a ping around 50 (for me anyway). Especialyl as Razz said ealier that it only using around 70% of avail bandwidth! Thats just random.

Random random random.

Fix it EA. :p

If my memory serves me right when WW2 online was released the buyer had to download a whopping patch before actually playing it?
Think thats right..although im old and forget things...im off to shake a stick at a cloud now....(we need an old grumpy smiley plz, insert here)

Yeah, I can see that being the case here as well... forking out 30-35 notes for the game, installing it, then after two days having to download a 100mb patch just so the damn thing works in a half-decent manner.

Briggerz - Correct. If a game goes "gold" it means they've made a final master copy of the game, from which all the in-store copies will be duplicated. A bit of a worry really, I was expecting it to be another two or three weeks at least.

Bitty - it's a distinct possiblity. No promises though becuase you know what I'm like ;)

I'm concerned about the seemingly early production... but I wonder if the MP demo was released because of demand (from users and EA) and so they pushed out the closest thing they had to a reasonable demo that didn't have too much of the final game?

I really doubt that they'd let the game go out unpolished... unless EA are being their usual pushy selves :/

On the plus side, DICE proved themselve to be very good at supporting their games with Codename: Eagle - writing patches for it even after the game was announced as being officially no longer supported.

still you are not able to play oogleh online though are you...

I'm gonna get it anyway - I like it too much so far to not get it - and I will have to have a bit of faith that the 60mhz refresh fix is fixed, and they have ironed something out with the lag.

It might be something silly, like it was in DoD, where the user on spawning was asking from info from each person, twice, then the server, then sending info to everyone, twice, then the server, before you spawned. Simple code fix if you know the problem exists could fix that. Join lag is a big problem for me and many others, sitting at 800-1024 ping whilst it settles, can only be in my view from duplicating packets when you spawn. I expect this gives a server drain, etc, when people join, you get lag, etc etc.

So it could be plausable it was fixed even before the demo was released, as the demo was done, before the code fix, its also plausable they fixed it in the 5 days. Its only the lag thats an issue - tweaking of the netcode might be done post release, but it is with any mp game you buy.

I'm hopefull put it that way.

I saw that news yesterday - forget where but in the same article was news of a patch that was supposed to be released at pretty much the same time as the game.

If they don't do regional differences (moh stylee) then hopefully that'll happen and stuff'll be sorted straight away.

Getting the game though (even if I stick ot the 12slot servers), as having a whole lot of fun playing it :)

If they release a whoppin patch why the fluff cant they wait to put it on the damn cd..pay 30 notes ish and then you still have to go online and download a patch so it works.
I expect patches after a period but not one due the day of release, which trawling through various forums etc seems the way its goin.
Me waits to see what will happen before deciding wether to get it or not:smurf:

Well I'm gonna get it. no matter what.

I go back to uni in october and if I can't get 'em to gimmie access round the firewall (I have a plan) then I won't be able to play ANY online game, however I'll STILL get it, just for single player. (and the hope of peeps playin it over uni network like we do with HL and JK2)
