You know, the type you can peel the backing off and stick on an object.

What I need to know is, how good is it?
Will it standup to outdoor weather and how quick might it fade?

I guess its just the same as any sort of sticker, if you attatch it to a flat surface it should stay there for a while, problem is the ink will fade/smudge in rain...

Use some sticky backed plastic or book covering film or something, and glue it over it, should divert the rain and help it stay longer :)

The ink will certainly fade in sunlight and quite rapidly too, usually magenta tones go first, then the cyans.

I've been experimenting with different kinds of labels at work in the past and in all honesty even the professional inks that printers use are very hard to find that are colourfast.

You'll have no problem getting the paper and it sounds like Unk is onto a good idea with the plastic but to get something to last I am afraid you are talking about a professional sign maker, probably something with Vinyl stencils at the very least.

Ta, just wondered if I could make my own for the bike, I thinking of a Ninja type thing for the fairing (cover the scratches up from where I dropped it  ). Maybe shall give a signmaker a try as there are loads around here

That would be mostly black presumably so you might get away with it for a while.

If you get the thing done properly then odds are it's gonna stretch better to fit contours and not wrinkle etc. better but that's something you can ask them about if you decide to go ahead with it :)
