View Full Version : "Free broadband"
Just saw this on the reg:
http://www.freebb.co.uk
Apparantly it's a company going to give you free broadband when they start up. I've registered my interest so if anything develops of it i'll post again with info and stuff. The Register's article is here: http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/22/28988.html

sounds too good to be true
and probably is :pikachu:
0800 'free' providers anyone? :P
It does certainly but you're under no obligation if you register your interest with them. It's worth a go just to see what they churn out and if it works you're quids in :D

actually he said it was quite good.. just the citys a **** hole :P
Yes, Scumdee is a complete hole but Abertay = win :E
We pay under £40 for the entire year, what you have realise is although you have very fast access you're sharing it with 300+ people, my halls is lucky enough to be linked by LAN to the campus so I can use the computing department web proxy :E FTP just doesn't work, IRC is almost impossible to connect to and Kazaa is supposedly shafted too :) And you can't play games unless your uni has proxies to let you... \o/

Ha! loughborough owns as its fast and everything works still :P and for only £30 a term
Lol, just registed and as well as sending me a weekly email telling me about the state of the service...
It may also contain articles or sponsors messages that we believe to be of interest to our members
and
FreeBB will, in its sole discretion, determine the criteria for the provision of free broadband access and at this time are under no obligation to provide this service to any individual.
The email also says...
As you know, registering early is one of the factors in
deciding who gets the free broadband access first. There
is one more step that you can complete today, which will
boost your rating with us, and that is to tell your
friends and family about our website.
Basically, its a load of old tosh they're using to send email spam. Good work fellas! :bomb:
Jive have you tried SCP? If you have SSH access to the server you want to FTP to it does the same job, is more secure and your Uni is more like to have those ports open.
Im really clutching at straws , i just registered and we haven't even got cable/adsl in my part of the world :P
Live in hope.
