Wood glues - they any good and if so which ones?

Basically got in very late last night and everyone was a bit hyper / drunk and this some how led to the door being rugby tackled off its hinges.

A piece has falled off the top of the door - diagonally through where the hinge goes.

Can a decent wood glue fix this or are we fubared?

if its a large piece of wood u may be able to glue and screw it back in place

nar wouldnt wanna risk a nail or a screw tbh - the wood is hard/old so if i wacked a nail or screw in there it would crack :|

also its only about 1inch square at its biggest end so it is a bit to small :{

Pva wood glue should do it, couple of tacks with panel pins and leave for three years to set

There's a glue called 'Mitre Mate' which is a two pack isocyanoacrylate glue (or saaing) which retails as a small bottle packed with an aerosol can of activator.

You apply the glue (which is clear like loc-tite) to one side, spray the other piece with the aerosol, let the xs activator dry and press the two bits together and hold it for 10 secs.

It will stick, the bond is always stronger than the wood and I've demonstrated this miracle glue to people for years to general astonishment as you stick two bits of 2 x 2 together end to end and invite people to try and break the bond afterwards.

Any half decent tool shop or builder's merchant will sell it. Screwfix certainly do.

P.S. It sticks your skin better even than loc-tite used to.

Sorted caveman. You owe me 2 mammoth steaks.

Brizie stands accused as the man who repaire that bit of Underground track - Or at least wrote the instruction manual on it.

Mitre Mate > Unibond + nails and screws.

Or even use some of that 'mysterious white sticky stuff (?) ' that was plastered over the back of your last door. I'm sure you must know of a freely available supply near you.

wont be from you then - heard your 'mysterious white sticky stuff' tube is all blocked from using it once and then years of no use :P

gotta fix it before the landlord sees!

Hey that white sti9cky stuff is better at sticking things together than that mitre crap. You don't see many babies falling apart!

I can vouch for this.

Morgan falls over on average 10 times/hour. Babies do indeed bounce.
