Beast, it crashed again. They're not fiddling with anything. You can't seriously expect them to work the weekend can you? I meant Wireplay is totally a 9-5 weekday job!

The server should be back on Monday once we have done a bit of housekeeping on the box to sort out why it crashed this time. Until then sit tight and dont bug that firstnet admin to do it cos he can't

Why must it crash on weekends?

Thank you unem for restarting the server.
Razz, its not a case that firstnet think its a part time job, or a 9-5 job, its a simple fact that they don't yet have the passwords to get onto the servers to do anything about it.
The shard had been down weeks with no one from wireplay doing anything about it until I asked Arenateks Director if he could get the box sorted on friday. So while the wireplay staff did get it back up and running it was with prompting from firstnet.
Early next week we'll have password access to all the boxes and then we'll start moving forward, bringing the servers up to the latest patch levels, until then any administration that doesn't take place is due to wirelay not relinquishing the passwords - not firstnet's working hours.

Let me explain, my comments about part-time and 9-5 jobs is from what I've heard about how Firstnet wish to continue with the running of Wireplay; by having a couple of staff work on it part time.

As for the passwords, surely if you buy a product, like Wireplay, last november you should of asked for all the passwords to the servers by now? Surely one of the first things you do is ask for access to the servers you just bought? No? Why not? Regardless of having the passwords or not, it would simply be a case of wandering through to the server room, plugging a keyboard, mouse, and moniter into the box and then restarting the shard.

As for claiming that the shard's been down weeks and no "Wireplay staff" had done anything about it, the shard has been down about a week - if that - and there's been no "Wireplay staff" since about last august since we were all made redundant, as you well know.

Pigwhistler, we spoke yesterday and touched on this. I like many at wireplay find it shocking that Unem, Razz and Haitch have just been dumped out of wireplay without any form of thanks for what they have done here. They have continued working unpaid to make sure wireplay remained operable, without those three there would be a lot more problems with the servers than there is currently. To just shove them out the door without offering them anything has left a bad taste in everyones mouth. Who will be next to go, is anyone here secure after the work weve put in to this?

Addtional information:

It's just come to my attention that all the passwords were sent to you on the 7th January. Care to comment?

If Firstnet aquired Wireplay back in November then Firstnet is Wipreplay, so how can you blame yourselves for the problems or are you 2 companies that do not know what they are doing. Which is what this sounds like.
sounds to me that you do not know anything about running a gaming service, except to blame other people for your short comings

Who do we complain to at Firstnet, To have the names of the desision makers would be a good idea so that we can cut out the small minded dictators that think they know all yet can only blame others when things fall over as they obviously do not know what they are doing.... are you sure you are competent to do this job?
I am not convinced thats for sure..

Having read some of the other threads that have been placed around these forums. I think you do not know, only have aperations of knowing

no matter how many servers you throw at WP unless you know what you are doing you are wasting your time and ours.

Get people that know what they are doing instead of trying to convince us that you know, when it is obvious to us all that you do not

all things weighted up i was thinking to myself that firstnet couldnt be any worse than arenatek as the rules and regulations that they had put in place made it near impossible for me to do what i was supposed to be doing with the ultima online server. but the reasons why things have been in limbo for so long now have completly escaped me, hopefully things can be sorted out soon for the people that remain here to maintain the uo server, and the rest of wireplay's servers aswell.

its a simple fact that they don't yet have the passwords to get onto the servers to do anything about it.

until then any administration that doesn't take place is due to wirelay not relinquishing the passwords - not firstnet's working hours. Thanks for selling me your car, Razz. Could you post the key to me sometime please? And the code to reactivate the stereo?

Oh - while you're at it - could you forward on the log book? I've got a feeling this might come in useful at some point. Like when I need to service the engine.

I know it was a bit much, to ask for the keys et al. when I made the purchase. My flatmate wanted to use the car, but I explained to him that since you hadn't given me the keys (etc...), it was entirely your fault.

Hence my asking for them now.

until I asked Arenateks Director if he could get the box sorted on friday. So while the wireplay staff did get it back up and running it was with prompting from firstnet. I had thought of asking the owner of the dealership for these items, but I knew all he'd do is pass the message on to one of his salesman (and bung them a nifty in the meantime), so I decided to come straight to you. Hope that's not a problem.

I can now totally relate to how the WP5 felt, now at another GSP which will go without name because they'll have grounds to delete this post (they have none at the minute). No two ways about it.

End.
