An IRC bot is an autonomous process which acts as a channel holder and service designed to aid people in running a channel. For example: setting topics, welcome messages, OP'ing people, voicing etc, as well as kicking and banning the more undesirable people. It sits on a channel waiting for input, either by querying it, or through text typed in a channel.
