Ello folks, been a while since I done a post so here it is. Id usually do this on a website, but its not complete yet.

What to say eh?

Well theres alot of interesting things happenin atm, most are pretty exciting and could take us leaps and bounds ahead of the competition :)

1. Arach is currently playing/editing a script he got hold off to make everything automated. Means the DJs can do an hour slot of pure requests, and not even be at their machines *I think*. Theres some really funky features and stuff which I'll get arach to fill in when we get it up and runnin 100%.

2. Theres talks atm of setting up a second port (Broadcast) soley for Broadband peeps :), so hopefully in the next coming months we will be blowing out tunes/commentary in 2 different bitrates.

Server1: 56k/ISDN
Server2: Cable/DSL

3. The website is nearing completion (Heh but MaNuAl you say that all the time :P). Well it is, only prob we got is small niggles for the Website to Bot Request and some other niggles. Breath is crunching away nicely at it :).

4. There is no 4

5. Theres gonna be a review on the current DJ situation in the next coming weeks, so we may well be looking for some willing DJs to Commentate/DJ/Do something on the station.

I'll keep you all posted

Cheers

In addition to what manual has said, I'm going to try and push for a 3 server cluster in order to give isdn listeners better quality than sharing with 56k users.

I also have in my mits atm the latest version of the website template which I will be slicing and dicing when I get home. I was originally intending to use the service a lot for the upcoming leagues I've got planned, I feel on reflection though that it would be unfair on other areas of wireplay if I hogged it all the time, so am trying to get a cluster server up specific to Unreal which will also stream the main community radio when leagues are not running. This however is all up in the air atm as Firstnet have not decided if we can have it yet.

Can I just point out that I'm not much to do with wpcgr other than as a dj and as part of the community web team. Manual is da man on that front :E

The site is 99% done.. I just need to get the updated design off Neo and get a few ports opened on the firewall to allow requests etc to pass through to the site.

so overall 4 servers? Tad extreme :P

3 at the most, and the 56k could be hogged for commentary pretty much all the time.

Server1: 56k
Server2: ISDN
Server3: DSL/Cable

Im sure its possible to work out some sorta rota for leagues and stuff, after all with 3 servers and quite alot of hours I think its possible :D

Can't you host all three one one 'server'?

Aye thats the idea

All you need is one box and to setup 3 different ports

8000/8002/8004 if I remember cause there was a prob if u had 8000/8001/8002 although it might have been fixed

/me goes off to read up!

www.shoutcast.com - Read up on Cluster servers. Otherwise, firstnet already host mediaplayer based stations for commercial companies, I'm quite sure they could do that for us.... dont quote me on that though :P
