The only thing about not having an upgrade is that the Munition peeps dont have 5% per level on the server ;) :E

An upgrade, new maps and stopping some of the uncanny shooters would all be a nice change :E

Waits for the updates so Ken can introduce the new stuff in :)

2.1 is not ready yet. I usually wait at least 4 days following the last change, to ensure a good burn-in. As always I will announce in the 2.1 thread when it's ready.

Yea but from what Kenny said before, some changes can be implemented as long as WP were on a certain patch, we were kind of holding up the progress of the mod.

While it would have been great to see the very latest version go on, the servers upgrade didnt run as smooth as it should have done in some areas and hopefully Vamp can discuss the situation with the latest K2K patch with Kenny, if the general issues with the servers hasnt been resolved yet.

ok server upgraded BUT maps rotaion screwed
and for some reason if one person votes monsters on/off it changes this exploit was used on me when someone wanted to get there own back NOT GOOD

anyone found doing that in future will be banned for a week

on a lighter note im looking for some kots2k players who are willing to be admins for the kots2k server

you will have to prove yourself first idle in irc when ever your on line and be generally helpful

Doesnt it "remember" how you last voted for monsters? If so you cant blame peeps as things change when they join / leave a server. The vote has to be more robust with a better % ratio and perhaps an option for server admins to make voting public or not ( similiar to the options in aq2tng ).

Also the vote is there so the majority can vote the mode/map they want. Many times I've been on a server with other peeps playing pvm or pvp and some1 comes on and changes the mode. We dont like it but we dont go around banning peeps for it.

Improve the vote system 1st.

As I said thats purely to do with how robust the vote system is and one of the various weaknesses in it at present.

A person can vote at ANYTIME they want for whatever reason, thats the option you give them with a vote option. Peeps might come along and vote "whatever" just because of a bad reason ( I want to kill you cos of x, I dont like this map z ). It doesnt matter if there is 2 peeps or a full server in the past its been real easy to change a mode of play for example and change what the majority wanted.

The voting system needs to be improved to try to avoid some of these problems and to make it clearer who has voted. While I dont like having "named" votes myself, if it was an option for server admins to have this on their server, its up to them if they use it then.

You cannot ban anyone for voting as such, if the server has been made a votable one. Yes if they continually did it like the old bwadmin kick command then maybe so.

Greg. Re: Map voting. Yes in the latest version of K2K theres a vote option for maps. Typing vote will bring up all vote options and the list of votable maps, so you just type vote map x or vote yes/no if someone calls a mapvote.

btw, in case anybody missed it, the voting thing was discussed in this thread: http://www.nachos.net/vbull/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33214#post287723 ... the up side is, as far as the monster mode goes, it is majority rule so one person cannot thwart the will of the server if people vote against him.

Yea right I can see the maplist overflow peeps then or something similiar, when the console gets flooded by huge amounts of text when they check to see the list of maps. :E

Err make sure ALTERED maps have other names as its annoying as hell to have map conflicts and I want to play on other servers with the originals. OK sometimes you can put versions of maps into mod folders but its sometimes very confusing.

Theres no way you need 200 maps on K2K. Certainly I dont see how the WP K2K server will improve with a zillion more so-so or worse maps on it, rather than a much more select and slick selection, that 99% of peeps would find more enjoyable to play 99% of the time. Also players are going to be a little annoyed if they have to download maps every other minute on a couple of players whims.

Maybe Kenny needs to improve the map features slightly and perhaps add a min/max players option, as then it would give an option serverside for them to limit the playing of certain maps in a defined mapcycle, if there only a certain amount of players on the server at the time. Some maps are way too small or way to big to play otherwise, especially with the high client settings on the WP server if its full.

Yes we discussed this before Kenny but do they make use of that feature on Wireplay, especially since they have a high maxclients settings but some maps that seem to play dont seem the best suited for the amount of peeps on the server at the time?

FYI, the version of q2r3 that wireplay is running is a beta version, I think, and the actual map itself is http://quake2maps.narod.ru/q2r3.zip and runs under the same file name. I don't think he expected the map to be used on servers, let alone the beta, so that's probably why he didn't rename it, but some of us do have the newer version. Also, the beta version was a little laggy. If you're gonna run the beta version, I suggest naming it beta or something.

Fury is a map that a lot of people have on other servers, but you're running a version redesigned for kots, so a lot of people get to the map screen and are forced off the server because they can't download a map they already have (without deleting the version they play on other servers).

Fury was the classic example the other day. I even think the version on the wp ftp is the original version as well. I got away with it by temparary renaming my original fury in my baseq2 and downloading it on the server so it would copy into the k2k mod folder itself.

Many a time I've had problems with WP due to the beta maps or slightly different versions they run.

For K2K itself Kenny could add a map entity function, like the likes of Lfire has. That means entities like ammo and weapons could be placed/altered on a map without having to alter the bsp itself, all it would need is a txt file on the serverside then for the new placements ( no download needed by players ), so any map could be used regardless if it has specific mod entities in it ( example you could use it to make dm maps into ctf one or vice versa, use it to make a mods map like actionquake2 into a q2/k2k map ).
