Q: Help! I'm getting some wacky error saying "server uses protocol 68"
A: This means that you are useing an older version of Quake 3. You need to upgrade quake3 to point release 1.32.

This is straight from the horses mouth @ q3world.com

If you patched with ver 1.32 (important that must be ver 1.32 not 1.31) Then I would repatch Quake 3 again.
