Wanted!! Several Wireplay Newsies, interested? Read on....

You don’t need to be Clark Kent or Lois Lane (actually being Terri Hatcher automatically qualifies you for the job though). The important thing needed from potential news gatherers, is a willingness to dedicate some time on a regular basis to the role.

To keep the website interesting to new gamers stumbling across Wireplay for the first time, it’s vital to have up to date news items. If the website is left dormant then it gives out a bad impression of the Wireplay service overall.

This brings me back to the original point! We need existing members of the Wireplay Community to volunteer their services and some spare time. If you are interested in doing some short news items for the website send an email to Breath (breath@wireplay.co.uk).
Keep it short, name, forum name, age and what genre of games news you will likely submit.

Once we have a good batch of applications, Breath and I will have a look through them and take it from there.

Cheers
Ronaldo

Congratulations on being the first person to make some sort of WP related post which does not contain huge amounts of spelling mistakes :)

If it wasn't for the fact that this post is pinned, I'd say something like "By God, talk about dragging up an old post"

I'd be interested in feeding XBox related news e.t.c. but the XBox community on here seems to be very quiet to say the least.

I developed an XBox website some time ago although I have handed this over to other people now - I would be more than happy to contribute whatever I can to an Xbox section but it looks like it's not a popular console for Wireplay folk.

Ah the common misconception raises it's head - it shares a lot of PC characteristics certainly but a ****ty version of a PC, absolutely not!

Price is no issue - there is no comparison in price between an XBox and a PC.

Online - the Live service needs to be experienced before one can comment on it really - no amount of "well it does this and that" will pursuade anyone with the view on consoles that you have that it has it's place in on-line gaming.

But - it's here - is doing quite well now and if it's mere existance is something you don't see the point of then nothing we can do about that :)

So how exactly is an xbox better than a pc? (other than the lbox (linuxbox))

scouseknight
23-09-2003, 17:24
I didn't say it was better...

"it shares a lot of PC characteristics certainly but a ****ty version of a PC, absolutely not" <= well if its not a worse version of a pc, it must be a better thing than a pc ...

scouseknight

It's not a ****ty version of a PC because it isn't a PC - you can't buy one and load Windows on it out of the box - it has no keyboard or mouse - and plugs into RF or SCART sockets on a TV.

If someone wants to modify it to use it as a PC then fine - it's their perogative - but for the majority of people who bought it as a console that's exactly what it is - a console.

erm, if it can run linux its a pc (or computer) .. so its a pc :)

Modified though isn't it - hardly makes the XBox as PC just because somebody has modified it for their own purposes.

FzX
24-09-2003, 14:23
well why would some1 chose xbox over pc's superior quality of gameplay + images ...

scouseknight
24-09-2003, 17:30
PCs superior quality of gameplay - I take it you haven't played many XBox titles then - or the titles you consider to have better gameplay require a mouse and keyboard?

Either way, gameplay cannot be measured - it's far too subjective to be used as a reason to prefer one platform over another without getting into specific titles - and once again that is subjective also.

I think we've diluted this thread enough - why not continue this in the XBox forum down there if you want to increase our post count :) and also give me some company down there ;)

I got a cracking controller for the PC from PC-World - their PC-Line one called a "Tournament Pro" - shared a lot of the characteristics of the Playstation Dual-Shock pads.

Don't have many games to use it with though unfortunately - I have a wireless joystick for the likes of XWing e.t.c. which I do still play :)

So I can only assume custom titles are being introduced yes?

Or is new wireplay just like old wireplay?

FiRe

The non officials with title are admins for certain games :)
