1. Glengarry Glen Ross (Baldwin, Pacino, Pryce, Spacey and Lemmon in one film!) Remake of a David Mamet play. Stunning.

2. The Shawshank Redemption (Robbins and Freeman, from a Stephen King short story)

3. The Professional (aka Leon) starring Jean Reno and a wallet sized Natalie Portman.

4. Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope (need I say more?)

5. Defending Your Life (Albert Brooks and Meryl Streep) A heart-warming, lightly sprinkled comedy tale of life after death.

6. Fight Club - There is only one Tyler Durden.

7. Blade Runner - Adaptation of Philip K Dick's novel 'Do Andoids Dream of Electric Sheep?' A devastatingly honest opinion of the near future. I'm still sure it has dead philosophy lecturers turning in their graves.

8. American History X - The two Edwards (Norton and Furlong) in this story of American youth with racist overtones.

9. American Psycho - Good old Patrick Bateman goes crazy ape bonkers. A bizarre look at the mid-eighties from the insane yuppie persepctive.

10. Trainspotting - The best British film ever made?

They're not in any order, but that's my ten, I reckon.

Not put The Godfather, Gone With the Wind, Dr Strangelove, Seven, The Birds, Psycho, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest etc etc, I could go on, but I won't. :)

Nope, Equilibrium passed me by, but if you reckon it's worth a viewing, I'll go rent it.

Still waiting for my free copy of Dr Strangelove to arrive from those nice people at Empire.....*sweaty palms*

Ok, it's been done many times b4, but theres nothing like a good fave movies thread. :)

Heres mine (in no particular order):

1. The Crow - Brandon Lee was, as you say, excellent. This is perhaps my all time fave movie.

2. Fight Club - Pure genius, unfortunately overlooked by many who "Dont like films about fighting". Their loss, fools. :)

3. Terminator 2: Judgement Day - One of those rare instances where the sequel is better than the original. I doubt the third one is gonna live up to it.

4. Monty Python and the Holy Grail - The funniest film ever, still makes me laugh my ass off even tho I've seen it hundreds of times.

5. Enter the Dragon - Possibly Bruce Lee's finest hour.

6. The Matrix - Amazing effects and a superb and believable storyline.

7. The Back to the Future Trilogy - All three of these films are equally excellent. EAT LEAD SLACKERS!

8. Fist of Legend - Jet Li's modern remake of Bruce Lee's classic Fist of Fury, superb.

9. Superman 1 and 2 - Loved these films when I was a kid, corny now but still good. 3 was rubbish tho, and don't even mention 4.

10. Robocop - The first 18 rated film I was allowed to watch (I think I was 10 or 11). Great film, shame about the poor sequels.

There loads more, like The Usual Suspects, Event Horizon, Alien, Aliens, Ninja Scroll etc etc etc. But they're probably my 10 faves.

Naked Gun trilogy?

...

I saw "Seven" last night, and was rather impressed with it. The same applies to "Dead Man Walking," "Clockwork Orange" and "The Usual Suspects." All fine films.

Right then... in no particular order....

Blues Brothers - The original one, classic - especially with the car chases. The sequel, on the other hand, was REALLY bad.
Star Wars Trilogy - The original 3... have yet to pick a favourite out of these.
Leon - Who knew cleaning could be so much fun?
Blade Runner - Just a damn good film.
Alien- It started off well...
Aliens (Directors Cut) - and it continued (and the directors cut is even better)... before the others (especially the 4th) came along.
T2 - Lacking a classic quote in the "I'll be back" style... but still great
Monty Python and the Holy Grail - Ni!
The Shawshank Redemption - Just fantastic
The Matrix - "I know kung fu" (well not really)

a while ago i would have put matrix but not anymore...

but here goes..

and oh 666, fist of fury was lee's finest hour, beats the pants of enter the dragon. :P if he'd finished game of death though man, that would have kicked bum....so many scenes with body doubles, stock footage, etc. shame...;(

currently (my top 10 change daily) in no particular order...

schindler's list (the ridiculously schmaltzy wishy-washy ending still irritates me beyond belief though)

raging bull

godfather 2

usual suspects

every jackie chan film ever made - miracles/canton godfather (by a tiny margin this is my favourite film of his), armour of god 2 (vamp's, see 2 if you haven't, better than 1), the drunken master films...the list goes on and on and on and on and on...and yes these all count as one..and no his hollywood fare doesen't count.

the replacements - this is the ultimate feelgood film...and with a soundtrack that rocks beyond belief! :D

heat, definitely heat...finally al pacino and robert de niro in a scene together in a film with a script that is superb..

grave of the fireflies - if you thought schindler's list reached new heights of bleakness you have not seen this film...it devastates you beyond belief.

memento - still discuss it to this day. :)

fight club - simply because it kicks ass..

note: as i mentioned above ask me tomorrow and the list will be entirely different. :P

Oh my GOD Grave of the Fireflies is one of those films that makes even a grown man to cry!!! That film is so damn depressing, but it's so amazing at the same time, I might have to watch it again O_O;;
