Do you fancy yourself as a Pirate? Hunting through the systems looking for an easy score? Or maybe forming up with a group to take on a much larger group of traders for the big score.
Or maybe you see yourself as a Protector, chasing bountys through the systems, protecting the weak upholding the law.
If roleplay was an a part of freelancer you would like to explore then you could be in luck :)
We would like to incorporate this into our Next Generation Server.
I for one have always felt letdown by the way the original Freelancer played online, it was too re-strictive with not enough scope on team play. But with a mod like Next Generation, it is literally bursting it open again. I for one can vouch that if your a pirate you wont be able to take out groups of fully kitted traders in a lone fighter .And now the game is intergrating RPG into its core, you actually start nuetral and you can select your side by flying to a close system.
The scope of what they are making, includes specialised ships, new systems , and rebalanced commodities, all adding to the overall package which should increase gametime and playability.
I suppose the best endorsement i can give this mod is "It got me playing freelancer again".
But it is early days, we are actually "trying" to help the makers with bugs and problems, so it isnt perfect, but i can say honestly they are working damn hard to get it right. You can see for yourself here :

What we need from you is your ideas / suggestions on how we should incorporate this into the server.
We have our classes to start from which are :
[Pirate][P] all the budding pirates out there, u could select allience to a particular faction also ie: [Outcasts]TrIcK^[P]
[Hunter][H] All you do gooders who prefer to help then hinder. Hunt for bountys that have been posted, but you must help those in need.
[Trade][T] If your more intersted in becoming a billionare then this is the class for you, and believe me, when you have your money and your top of the line ships from this mod specifically for you, you will not be "easy prey"
[Free][F] What it says on the tin : freelancer, bit of trading maybe, then hunting a few pirates, or perhaps shooting down some traders for some fast cash, but remember to keep an eye on your player status ;)
These could be the RPG core sections, but there is scope to change / improve.
We need to establish a set of rules for each faction : eg for pirates we will need to establish piracy zones, and non piracy zones. Regardless we cant have them running havock lol, their has to be no looting areas to allow other players some trade etc.
So now we turn to you, we need feeback from you, at the end of the day you are the people who play on our servers, so tell us what you think, how you feel it should be setup, and hopefully we will be able to meet in the middle with eveyones wishes
