BY have it on their FTP too - downloaded it in less than a minute :D
get breath to give you access to the WP ftp combog..then you can get these demos on just as they come out. :)

Why is it so bad? I can understand because of the waiting but as I said above, if there is no wait then what's the problem?
let's just say that no matter how often i use fileplanet it always makes me wait.....like always when all i have to do is go to google, type in the filename and someone or the other always has a mirror or other place to get demos/patches/etc.

Played the demo earlier, have to say I was disappointed. Looks like more of the same, and it was getting repetitive after Homeworld: Cataclysm. With all the other good games coming out I think I'll be giving this one a miss :(

Fileplanet is the best pay per download system around since the others are all really poo, but this doesn't stop it being poo (moreso since the servers are all US based compared to BY/WP in the UK :) )
As for the demo itself, I liked it. Played the original after i got it for a fiver on budget, and this is definetly an improvemt on that (no more fiddling around with individual fighters :D), although I never played cataclysm so i have no basis for comparison. The controls are a lot better and more refined and the AI picks out targets for relevant squadrons well reducing the amount of micromanagement needed. I shall be partaking of the pucrhasing of it once I've moved into uni :)

Actually Fileplanet has UK servers too :D Which is why I don't mind downloading from them if there is no wait!

tbh you are lucky if you get a direct download from fileplanet unless you pay for it. normaly you would have to wait on most popular stuff

No, that's what I'm trying to say for crying out loud. THERE WAS NO WAIT FOR THE HOMEWORLD 2 DEMO OR CALL OF DUTY. Special servers they put up and meant no waiting and full download speeds.

We're not on about the Homeworld 2 demo but Fileplanet in general. It sucks, plain and simple. I can download from WP/BY et al at multi-mb speeds, but with Fileplanet I have to register, put up with ads, spam and then only download at frankly pitiful speeds.

well if you read my post I said that there was no problem as long as I did'nt have to wait, what I said was Fileplanet has a no wait server, you all said Fileplanet sucks. I KNOW IT SUCKS. No wait servers means no waiting what's the problem when your download is maxed out as well? I downloaded that demo almost straight after clicking 'Homeworld 2 demo' No waiting where's the problem?

Actually, waiting is something I forgot to add to my list of reasons Fileplanet sucks. Great, they had servers for HW2 - which I couldn't download from because I refuse to sign up with them.
My point (and other people's) is that the rest of the time you do have to wait and when you've waited it's very slow - and it should be clear by now I'm not using a 56k conn.
I'm not saying that the HW2 demo thing they've done sucks - but Fileplanet as a whole does. And reputation is everything in this game.

We never said the HW servers sucked - just fileplanet in general, so the point you made in that quote is irrelevant to your disagreement. In fact, given that you conceeded that FP in general sucks, I declare that... I win :P
