I gather the latest incarnation of ISS is to be released on PC for the first time. :D
When is it out, and is there a demo available?

Fifa 2004 demo (http://www.gamershell.com/download_3734.shtml)
I've downloaded PES3 and the most immediate thing about it that struck me is it's glaringly obvious console background. When programming the keyboard all the commands are listed as X, triangle, square etc which frankly I think is very poor. You're trying to map a keyboard and it shows you a gamepad :|
After fighting with the controls on the keyboard for a couple of matches I went and dug out my PC gamepad. The game is sooooo much easier and better with one. I'd also tried with a joystick and that would have worked ok if I'd mapped the buttons properly.
Maybe someone can tell me how the f*** to tackle someone in this game. Slide tackles either seem to miss completely or chop the player down. 'Pressure' 1 & 2 seem to do nothing. HTF do you tackle someone? And is it possible to stop it autoswitching player for you as that's a pain in the butt?
Autoswitching level is decided before you begin a match, there is a bar that you can decrease (pressing L1 / R1 to adjust).
Tackling isn't a case of just pressing a button, you need to hold it down at certain times and time your way into the tackle. Just takes a bit of practice.
Ah, I've seen that bar, though without instructions I had no idea what it was for :)
Any tips on how to win the ball in the air from a goal kick? My random mashing of the buttons isn't very successful :E
Finally, why are my players so utterly useless at shooting? A single tap of the shoot button and they blast it over the bar from 6 yards out. Obviously it must be the PC cheating and not me being useless...
Try to use the "X" equivalent button for heading. Push in the direction you want to pass in. The button press actually initiates a jump of the player, so again, timing is key. Ideally you want to try and "run" slightly away from the ball as that will prevent any challenging opponent from winning it. Think as though you are playing football, not a computer game :)
Shooting is harder in PES3 than any other PES game, and has always been harder than Fifa. The bar that fills up when you press shoot indicates power and (to a certain extent) height. The bar will fill up quicker if you have lots of defenders pressuring you/you've just turned/etc. You also need to push in the direction of where you want the ball to go in the net.

The demo is being a ******* with my PC. :frown:
Is anyone else getting complete slow down whenever you get close to goal? I had to turn it down to the lowest detail settings to make it playable (not jerky, just like it was in slow motion.)
It's damned annoying because it seems bloody good. :|
No problems here. Outdated graphics drivers perhaps...?

I'm usuing fairly recent Nvidia drivers I think. Though I'll dry updating anyway.
My specs in full (and this should run it, right?)
Athlon XP 2000 (1.2ghz)
256mb RAM
Geforce 4MX 64mb
Windows XP pro
RAM, more RAM! It's cheap and the diff between 256 and 512 for games can be a fair bit. I'd get 1024 though if you can.
I have noticed slow down in the goal mouth when there's lots of players in the box.
P4 3Ghz, 1024MB RAM, GeForce 3 64MB DDR, XP Pro. Max in-game graphics used (1024x768 ). Latest drivers, DX 9 (9b I think).
As it does it to mine I'd expect it to do it yours, but not to the extent you describe. More RAM would help, but other than that you're looking at a new processor.

Heh, hardly worth it considering I barely use my PC for games these days. Maybe in a few months... :)
I think the demo is bugged to, well, buggery as well though. :E I downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers and the graphics went all screwy, and everytime I moved to a different menu (or a goal was scored) the screen went black needing an alt-tab to get it to display again...
I copied the demo over to my girlfriends (far superior ;( ) PC to see how it was and that had it's own set of problems. As well as the goalmouth slowdown on every attack, going through the menus was hit and miss because the keyboard was so damned unresponsive! Setting the game level was a nightmare in itself.
It's a damned shame though, because from the brief glimpses of gameplay I've had it looks like the best football game since Sensible Soccer ( :cheese: ) and it's a shame it seems bugged to death.
Someone on a different forum has posted a problem where the keyboard scrolls through the menus at ridiculously fast speeds. His is an Athlon too, I wonder if that's a factor.
Sounds like the demo is bugged as you say :| They're not going to do themselves any favours releasing bugged demos.
I heard it was leaked, or something?

Wow, why?
Not that it looks like I'll be getting it anyway. I'd need some kind of guarantee that it will be less buggy before I considered it... :(
