It would be nice to see more players on the IRC channel, and much goes on there. But I do understand that it can be tricky to get running if you dont know how to do it...

So I have taken the liberty of preparing an IRC client which will connect straight to #wpnwn on connection.

Having some trouble with hosting it, so if you want it, send me a message, either in game or via email, and ill either send it or allow you to dl it.

for users with mIRC already you can put this in:

in your perform buffer you can put this code to autojoin the channel

/if ($network == quakenet) { /join #wpnwn }

then just type /server irc.quakenet.org and mIRC will do the rest.

if you are too lazy for that you can even automate this process via the aliases section of mIRC by putting in this

/quakenet /server irc.quakenet.org 6667

after putting that in your aliases all you have to do is type /quakenet and assuming that you have the perform code already inserted it becomes a one step procedure.

SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE

Dear Avalyn and Tharizdun what are you talking about?

I have never heard of or used an IRC channel as far as I know---What is it and what does it do ingame?

Avalyn you say to get ahold of you for a down load but Since I do not know what it does or what happens ingame I will not download it. I have enough problems with game/computer crashes as is.

And Tharizdun where exactly can I find my "perform buffer" ?

If this is some sort of instant message channel then whats it use? we have the game chat box and to use an instant message you need to download software that makes the game run in a window---that software requires a smaller view port which I dont like and causes additional game bugs.

Please let me know what this IRC is so I can decide if I want to use it.

Thanks Balac

IRC is a chat channel program, but it is not an addition to neverwinter nights, it is a totally seperate program, we just use it to talk to each other when the server is down, or to discuss various things, like updates, events, etc...

Thank you for the discription----I use AIM when building or scripting to communicate with the others. As I have not contributed to this game I see no reason to use a chat room.

Thanks again for the explaination; Balac

NEW IRC CHANNEL!

The IRC channel for MERP UK has been moved to #wpnwn to bring us right into the Wireplay IRC network.

Come and chat with players and DMs here about anything!

I give up----I am on mIRC and cant talk to anyone at #wpnwn channel.

Barking said I need to be on quakenet and so I went there but there is nothing there to join? How do I het on quakenet?

I looked for "automate this process via the aliases section of mIRC by putting in this" as said above:
/quakenet /server irc.quakenet.org 6667

And I could not find any alias section to paste that channel to.

Could someone please provide me with a method to hop on the IRC?

Try this:

1. Open IRC

2. Go to Tools, Options

3. On the category pannel, select the 'servers' option

4. Set your IRC Network as 'Quakenet'

5. Set your Network as 'Quakenet: Random UK server'

6. Click OK

7. Connect

8. When prompted, type 'wpnwn'

9. You should be in!
