View Full Version : Praise for UTT2

I would just like to say that the new version is incredible!! It is everything I would have hoped it to be so far, and it is the only mod I ever play. I really like how everything is more expensive and the good weapons are harder to find. It adds a sense of realism, and adds a whole new dimension to UTT. Also, this is the most friendly server I have ever found. Almost everyone will greet anyone they come across, unless they happen to be of the opposing faction of course. Thank you for making NWN a game I can play for months instead of weeks.
Well I'd like to praise the quality of some of the RP i've seen since the launch of UTT2.
One characetr that particularly springs to mind is Vylenthra (I think I spelt that right). A very woodsy, uncomfortable around 'people' characetr. On first meeting Lolinus she was intimidated, and backed away. He managed to calm her down and along with the Elven magic user Dregoth they journeyed together for a while. After a few encounters she came to see that Lolinus kept his word - killin' any spiders that came close to her. Afer he retrieved from the brink of death though she truly relaxed around him, and started comparing him to a bear - Powerful, Kind and Wise (I still have my doubts about wise personally, but there you go). However this was a very well played character - the shortened sentences of a person not used to speaking, the way the character positioned themselves behind Lolinus when meeting new characerts - altogether well played, and its that kind of thing that maked this game for me.
you %#£% .... how come you got to play with such a cool role player.:D
Seriously though, the character wipe and new systems seem to have re-energised everyones roleplaying ability and as you said in another thread... more people to bump in to also. Brilliant:)
As UTT1 died it waned somewhat in its latter days. The staff were busy with UTT2 and people knew their characters were doomed. I still played there but i agree that a lot of the enthusiams were dampened somewhat. Apocalypse can do that to a guy :)
The standard has been pretty damn good i must agree there too. Only a couple of isolated incidents of bad news so far (mostly teething troubles really), lets hope it stays that way and people make the most of the world without makin a habit of lurkin in nice safe locales to farm XP or anything like that :P
Hats off to Veld's Lads - you know who you all were and it was fun and a challenge to lead the disfunctional lot of you, and try to keep you from arguing amongst youselves whenever we stopped fighting the enemy. Veld is usually in support at the frontal charge, in the old Dwarven Wall of Steel, but the old bugger's battle skills are comin' back to 'im.
*Veld shakes his head and wonders what hes doing with a bunch of Men and Elves, rubs his old knees and rests his bones on a convenient log while absent mindedly combing dried blood out of his chin-whiskers*
Actually I met the same character later he same day, along with another female druid, this one accompanied by a bear. Again there was some great roleplaying before we went for a little adventuring. So Veld may have his lads, but it seems a rival group is formed - 'Lolinus' Lasses'. ;)
Never mind Lolinus's lasses. Theres a trio of dark women, and i mean daaaark, lurking in the shadows and maliciously working towards there shared goal to bring suffering and pain to all the free! ;)grrr.
Theres a whole new feel to MERP now, night and day is wicked finally!:) the areas are carefully planned, and theres interesting quests to do if you dont want to risk exploring into the wrong place. Interaction between good and evil will come later i think, but my party have had some PvP already, which was RPed well and went well, although i got killed the second time. Heh... good stuff.

Fasin I have no clue what you are talking about...*looks innocent*...A good grudge that has a Tolkien reason can help RP like nothing else, and I've been sure to snub him every chance I get since then. There is nothing worse than an arrogant Noldor.
I recently saw Rivendell and I like the new version much better. I don't remember anything about Rivendell being walled like the old version, but now when the dark ones come there will be little defense!! After a week of two I will be sure to keep an eye there to make sure Kerve hasn't killed everyone yet.
It'll only get attacked during an event under dm supervision. The dm will ensure that the rivendell defenders flood to protect rivendell :)

Good to hear!!
Yes this UTT2 is much better than the earlier one though I liked all the "superitems". It has been fun to start all over again and encounter lots of other char.
Yesterdays teambattle thingy took legs my from under me (or how do you say that in english). It was superb event along side with the normal arena. Finally you dont have to and pick up a fight in the harads border now you can do it legally in the arena :). Good work keep the good stuff coming.
Im really looking forward to the new areas I wonder if Minas Tirith is so big as it used to be.
On MT and Mordor-
Coming very soon I hope - heaps of late teen/epic level quests from these areas, which will take you on some pretty remarkable adventures into the heart of the enemy, deep underground, and even out of this world...
The areas themselves will be 'simplified', very much like others have been. Im going to concentrate the action to a few areas. So MT will keep its great gate, its merchant tier and its excellent citadel level. The other tiers im thinking of 'simulating' the journey up/down them.
Im trying to be economical with the layout of the module so we can fit in more rich, higly concentrated areas. But rest assured, MT will look as fantastic as ever.
My friends and I are new to the MERP server and I think we all very much enjoy everyone's RP'ing - most everyone has roleplayed very well and many have demonstrated an amazing knowledge of Middle Earth lore.
I must unfortunately point out that we endured one negative experience. A player (who will remain nameless for now) took it upon himself to kill one of my friends while she sat AFK in a tavern. Granted, she should have known better than to go AFK in a PvP zone, but the rules are clear and it was in no way a mutual PvP. She is not entirely sold on playing on MERP and that experience might just push her out the door and I sincerely hope it doesn't. PLEASE, PLEASE make certain that people understand and abide by the rules - for all of our sakes. Not everyone on this server is here to PvP - some just love the Middle Earth experience that you have all created and want to be a part of it.
And to the player responsible... we know who you are and will call this one time a misunderstanding. Let's not see it happen again.
Thank you all for your efforts to make this a truly pleasant experience!
Bedovir, I'd like the login name of this player sent to me immediately. Even if you are thinking of letting him/her off, this is something we do not tolerate here.
I'd appreciate it if any future incidents like this happen, that I am informed at once. Bad players who cheat or do things like this will do it again, experience has told me. We can't look after the community if people are silent. People will abide by rules if the see that the staff are able to enforce them. We can't enforce if people dont speak out.

Just like to say I'm loving my first few hours in the new world. MUCH more difficult so far, with the loot set more realisitically then UTT1.
Can't wait to explore the rest of the world ;)
I'd like to say congratulations on the Eregion update.
The design is great, I like the dark atmosphere and the area is well layed out to encourage both the RP sessions and the pitched battles that we have seen there already!
I am also pleased to see its appearance because of Vinduil's family connection with Ost-in-Edhil. I look forward to many future adventures involving this fantastic new area and he!
Heres a pressing question folks -
What would you consider to be the best feature/thing in UTT2 so far ?
Tighter economy/less powerful items.

I agree with Gloin, it is much better now that you cannot walk into any store and buy a +5 weapon!!

the best feature by far is more active dms to bring the world to life, no matter what things look like or how well balanced nothing beats being able to talke to every person you see npc and pc alike
I would say the increased difficulty and restrictions.
Also i find the world desing to be good, it takes well in consideration the non-hasted travelers and many of the new quest are very very good.

Definitely pumping up the difficulty & restricting the availability of magic items.
i just love the new angmar quests! it is very very long, there are
(LITTLE MINI-SPOILERS AHEAD!!!)
riddles, traps, a deep storyline, scary situations you do not expect at all and everything you wish in a quest.
(END OF LITTLE MINI-SPOILERS)
great job!
p.s. great rp prophet7! always nice to game with you!

And you too Dwillin, it is not very often anyone has the patience to hunt for tracks before charging ahead...
I have been on several servers and encountered huge xp gain ones with loads of powerful items which is fun for the very short term but lacks community. They had little roleplaying and vast areas of middle earth which were empty not even wildlife..it made for hours of boring running through areas just to get to the handful of action places which were packed with creatures.
Joining this server was a breath of fresh air. Lots of friendly fellow roleplayers and a harsh but fair xp system with a real penalty for dying. I love the quests so far and its great to see flora and fauna abounding in a real living middle earth.
btw People who meet me apologies if I do not say much sometimes but its usually due to me trying to play quietly downstairs late at night and trying not to wake up my baby son and/or wife with rapid keyboard clicking. I love roleplaying and when I'm on earlier in the evening I'm more sociable.
Put it down to Baltar being a gruff character until you get to know him :) Tx
Great to hear. Hope you continue to enjoy everything :)
