I'd like to add a good number of new helmets to the gameworld. Please use this thread for helmet blueprint designs. Layout your blueprint as you would in the Item Blueprints thread.

Im not looking for amasing helmets either, just some generally suitable for all. All helmets must offer at least +2 to the concentration skill.

I prefer helmets to be mostly skill based in their bonuses, but small ability bonuses and/or saving throw increases are welcome.

Cheers

Mirkwood hood

Description - A dark cowl (usualy black, dark green/olive or dark grey) that hides the features. Legend has it the Necromancer of Dol Goldur produced these items for the villianous outlaws in his employ. A useful magical device that imparts certain protections and and benifits to the wearer. The wearer however will carry the stain of the dark lord and this will make even the most open minded person warey and uncomfortable.

Alignment - Evil only
AC +1
Stealth (Hide/Move) + 5
Concentration +5
Intimidate +5

Darkvision

Charisma -2

Mantle of the Horse Lords

Description - A typical Rohirrim helemt (norse looking) with overlapping peices of steel(mithril?) protecting the neck. However the craftmanship is exceptional. Perhaps a gift in ages past from the elves of Lorien to a Rohirrim warrior of note or maybe even from the Dwarves before the fall of Moria. This pice of armour was crafted/designed with the warrior in mind. It offers certain deffenses and boosts the warriors stature/aura when it is worn

Concentration +2
Charisma +1
Strength +1
Immune to Fear

+1 AC?

Item Type: Helm
Item Name: Shield Helm
Item Properties: +1 Armor Bonus (+2 vs Giantkind?)

Item Description: These sturdy helms were devised initially by the Dwarves of the Ered Mithrin but have become widespread among the clans of many mountain dwelling folk. The Shield Helm is beaten from tempered steel and covers the wearer's head entirely. Furthermore, it is surrounded by a horizontal metal shield extending radially around the back and sides of the helm, protecting the neck and shoulders and offering better protection from overhead blows.

Notes: Basically i thought of this when i saw the helm_009 model in the toolset.

Item Type: Helm
Item Name: Stagmantle
Item Properties: Druid (& Ranger ?) only; non-Evil only; +1 WIS; +5 Lore; +5 Heal

Item Description: The Stagmantle is a symbol of devotion and faith made of hide and leather, and crowned with the great antlers of a fallen King of the Forest. The servant of nature that wears them is wise in his woodcraft and a credit to his people.

Notes: helm_011 model in the toolset. Several colour schemes work well on this one. Tan, beige, brown, grey, taupe. Maybe we can have differnt properties on different versions. Animal Empathy, instead of Lore, or Stealth based skills, that sort of thing.

Item Type: Helm
Item Name: Crown of the White Hart
Item Properties: Druid (& Ranger ?) only; non-Evil only; +3 WIS; +5 Lore; +5 Heal; +1 Armour Bonus

Item Description: Endowed with the blessings of Yavanna and Oromë, the greatest of all Stagmantle Helms, crowned with the antlers of a creature out of legend and myth. All Druids revere the White Stag. To some he is the messenger of the Giver of Fruits, to others he is an avatar of the Huntsman himself. To wear the Crown of the White Hart is a great honour.

Notes: helm_011 model in the toolset. As above but white. Intended as something an Archdruid might wear so maybe we need to up the specs a bit to raise the Level Requirement? At the moment as it stands here its about 13.

Item Properties: +2 AC, +6 Discipline, +3 Persuade, +2 Concentration
Item Description: Forged for King Turgon of the hidden city of Gondolin, this ancient artifact was lost during the fall of the Numenor and the changing of the world. The Crown was crafted by dwarven smiths and enchanted by Noldor sorcerors, and it gives protection for an elven warrior in combat.

Name: Variag Battle Helm

Properties: +2 concentration, +5 intimidate, +1 strength, -1 charisma, +2 save vs. fear.

Item description: These helms are popular among Variag warriors. Like most Variag designs, this helm exhibits terrifying features that strike doubt into the hearts of their adversaries. These helms are usually enchanted to embolden the wearer to have increased confidence and strength in battle. These helms may vary in size or shape, but all are terrifying to behold.

Helm model #15 (although any of the spiked, grotesque, or otherwise evil looking helms work)

Metal color #1: Black

Metal color #2: Red

Cloth color #2: Shiney Gold (Variags love black, gold, and red... but gold is mostely seen in jewelry or adornments)

The Skull of Bolg

The actual head of Bolg (Template of orc head). Fitted with a strap and properly tanned, this helm permits the wearer to pass through crowds of orcs unmolested - (umm maybe spell effect sanctuary) - 4 to charisma +1 AC (due to thick boney plating). Obviously of dwarven make cannot be worn by elves, lawful good, nor anyone with a sense of decorum.

This isn't a request for a set of modifications for a helm, but rather for a diadem, fillet, hairpiece, coif or other headgear that would function like a helmet, but not cover the face.

Obvious functions would include enhanced observation etc etc. plus anything you could put into a helmet, without having to take the helm on and off. Obviously a programmer's nightmare, but would enhance RP and such.

I think the main reasons these aren't done would be because you'd need a model for every single head existing - can you imagine trying to sort that with all the CEP heads?

Helm's to enhance a wearers observation et al on the other hand should be very do-able, and indeed do exist on the OC's I believe.

If its a head related non helmet thing... seeing as it cant be done like that ... who remembers the ioun stones that when activated flew around yer head and applied whatever effect they had to the PC. How about something like that. For a VERY limited duration, a limited number of times per day (like ONCE), with a perception boosting effect, search, lore etc.

Call them Elfstones (or Elessar) give them class/race/alignment restrictions. It might make an interesting change and I suppose they could be made for any purpose we need.

~ Elessar of Eärendil - The First Elfstone ~

A fabulous green gem made in Gondolin during the First Age. Stories of its creation differ in detail: some name Enerdhil as its maker, but Celebrimbor son of Curufin was more likely to have been the jewelsmith who created it. The Elessar had the light of the Sun trapped within it, and those who looked through it were said to see the withered or aged as whole and young again. It was even claimed to have some power of healing.

This Elessar was saved from the Fall of Gondolin by Idril, who gave it to her son Eärendil, and with Eärendil it was carried across the Sea to the Blessed Realm. In the Third Age, another Elessar was seen - the Elfstone given by Galadriel to Aragorn - and some said that this was Eärendil's jewel, brought back to Middle-earth by Mithrandir. In truth, though, Aragorn's Elessar seems to have been a new stone, also made by Celebrimbor, with less power than the original jewel.

For the sake of the argument have the Elessar only usable by creatures of good alignment, but also have Gûlgund (black speech: wraithstones) available for evil characters... Characters may only use/possess one at a time perhaps.

Its a thought...

I do like that thought... It'd be a kind of magic item specific to this game world, and one that would fit in very well with Tolkien's mythology. If it's not too difficult technically, my vote's strongly in favour.

That would be cool! Especially if limited to certain races classes etc. I could easily see elves with them. Maybe dwarves too, crafted from jewels from out of the earth. Powerful casters, paladins maybe.

Circling living fireflies or fairies for druids or powerful rangers.

Fighters get buckets with slits cut in them of course.
