Well I've finally got round to it.

Firstup these are only guidelines for my own story driven events, so will probably only be used if you get involved in one of them.

First thing to be aware of - if you're looking for a combat filled event - mine aren't the right place, most only have 1 or 2 combat encounters max.

Now my guidelines:-

1) Please keep the whole party together at all times (although I usually have help running these, and can sometimes have the group split into two, its easier on us if you stay together). edit - because my events are RP not combat it doesn't matter if the party is bigger than 6.

2) RP is the rule of thumb in these events, and please try to keep things in the normal chat channel - not party.

2a) Make sure everyone has a chance to put in their input - if someone is a little quiet about coming forward you may miss out on some great ideas/important information.

3) If you feel your character is of an appropriate class/race or has an appropriate skill/feat to find out extra information - either through knowledge or putting a skill into use please send a DM tell - if we feel its appropriate we will send you any extra information.

4) On the whole once an event is up and running its better not to invite more people in. This is especially true in my events which are story driven - if you come in halfway through you may not have any idea of what is happening, or everyone will have to stop to bring you up to speed - this can very much interrupt the flow, and can be irritaing for both players and DM's who have time limitations to get things done.

5) Whilst we don't in any ways want to hurry people's RP please bare in mind that myself and Olorin (who is usually helping me on these) do live in the UK and have a real life as well. We have at times been on till 3 or 4am running these events, and tend to feel it the next morning. If somthing isn't related to the specific event being ran please keep it for another time. If you have some ideas do e-mail me I will normally be quite happy to set up an event to encompass these ideas, whilst keeping it within the storyline.

These guidelines will do for now, but I may add to them as time goes on and more ideas occur to me.

As an aside to this I plan to start righting up my linked events so far - however I can't reember everyone who was involved in them if you can help please do.

The events I am thinking of are:
Theft from Dunedain Rangers in Pellenor Fields
Subfertuge/Assassination of Ithlien Ranger
Recovery of Theoden's Sword
Stirring up trouble in Tharbad
Tracking the Missing Ranger.

These five quests will be written up under the sub-heading 'The Polotics of War' - qa stroyline which will be continuing - if anyone wants to write them from the point of view of their character please e-mail them to me nad I'll include them in the write ups.

Heheh it would help if I could spell politics - however if its easier than mailing me if you know the list of characters involved in one of these events please post a list here with the events name from the above list and the characters involved.

OK.. let me see...

Theft from Dunedain Rangers in Pellenor Fields - i don't think i saw that one..

Subfertuge/Assassination of Ithlien Ranger - khaev, khaz, talisha, necron, cul & alyssandra

Recovery of Theoden's Sword - only caught the end of this with Vyl... Pretty sure I saw Tyrion, Gloisin, Argon, Arathai, Vinduil (i think)... can't remember anyone else of the top of my head, but there were a lot of people there..

Stirring up trouble in Tharbad - again, khaev, khaz, necron, alyssandra for evils, i think some of the goods they met were argon, a.g.d...umm.... (help?)

Tracking the Missing Ranger - a lot of people again, vinduil, gloisin, tyrion, argon, a.g.d, arathai, shan, kessa thennal (?)...possibly a couple more, and me staying out the way with vyl :)

That's about as good as my memory gets though.....

Theft from Rangers was Khaev, Kha-Khazaldor, Necron and Minaltranmik.. Cullkett had to log out so wasnt him.

Assasination of ranger sounds right

Trouble in Tharbad are you sure Cullkett wasnt there too?

Cullkett, Khazaldor, Anson Oakgrove and Groshnak did a dirty on some rangers in the Chetwood too, if thats related, ( a Dunedain sword for Khamul)

Lorien

Oh yeah forgot that one - its related in a minor way.

Hello

Well after a break from DM-ing as I returned to work I'm going to be back DM-ing moer often in the next few weeks, and running my style of events again.

So I thought I'd post in here to give warning, and to pull it to the top of the forums, mainly so people can read my guide to my events again.

Enjoy.

A watchman in Tharbad has been openly complaining about the mayors corruption, his love for gold over justice, the shameful trial of Tyrion and the way he bought his freedom with gold and gems.
Tharbads streets becoming unsafe with orcs and many other dangerous types walking unchallenged.
mention of unrest in the watch and trouble brewing
could the mayor be talking his last bribe:naughty:

Indeed.. the Mayors lack of attention to his populace has been concerning a certain Kira and Gabriella also. The constant incursions of Orcs near the docklands and the ensuing death and destruction of farmers and farmland did not amuse them in the least. If the Mayor does not pay more attention to the needs of the people his days may indeed be numbered...... even literaly.

Okay here we go:

As promised I will be running a good aligned low level event this week. If you don't hear otherwise this will be on wednesday at 20:00 British Summer Time. To start with I will say levels 1-6, but depending on attendance I may be a little flexible.

I will say please don't create a charcter just for this event - we will have to limit party size and priority will be given first to new players, then to older players with already existing characters.

Please, if you wish to attend, be in the Pony in Bree at 20:00 (British Summer Time) or as soon after as possible. DM's will be in attendance as of this time - even if we don't intervene directly we will be watching for good RP and quite possible rewarding it.

The actual event will kick off from this location. Please think about your character as a whole - and I mean all your stast and skills - we the DM's will be looking at character sheets and what your characerts are trying/failing to do. Again we will look to reward those whoplay their character well. I will point out that just cos a stat has little use in NWN doesn't mean it has little use in my events.

See some of you soon

One thing to mention DM RP rewards are between you and the DM involved - they're not there for players to say 'I got x exp from the Dm what did you get?'. Its not a competion - we'll just reward those who RP heir characters well (and this means RP'ing all your stast and skills - not RP'ing the perfect ideal of the character).

After what seems like an age of the world here I am once more.

Having had many enforced/self enforced bvreals from the serevr, and a multitude and personla stuff to sort out - not tomention time spent developing new areas/content. I have decided it is time once more for me to step out from my semi-DM-retirement and make my DM-ing presence felt once more on the server.

SO this post is one to say - watch out ehre come my events again, and 2 to let our new players see my guidelines - and our older players rediscover them.

One thing I will reitereate - my evernts are very very very RP/Story driven, they need effort from the players involvedto run properly - this means paying attention to what is going on, and actively doing things to help the story move.

This isn't a threat but if I run events for players unable to do that I will have to be more picky in my target audience in the future, as I get no joy out of an event where I am doing all the work.

Anyway, hope to see you all involved in one of my events in the near future.

I look forward to being apart of one of your events Lorien. :) I've always loved the heavy roleplayed DM hosted events.

Hello all, rather than starting a new thread I hope it is not inapropriate to tag this messege on here.

I have a little more free time now (due to being better organised more than anything else) and so am going to endevour to be on IRC and in the game in various forms on Sundays for adventuring, gossiping, reminiscing or just passing time with friends old and new;)

Looking forward to getting back!

Hello!

Very good news SNarfel. Looking forward to seeing you back!

Perhaps one Sunday would be good for an event. :)

Will events always be on Sunday? I have ball room dancing lessons Sunday night.

From my past experience events tend to take place as and when a DM has an idea and the time to run with it.

SNarfel

Silverleaf, I think Ptolomy was suggesting that "a" Sunday may be good for "an" event as that would suite certain players. Nothing in the posts suggests that events would only be on Sundays:D

Here's a good idea for a quest...

Instead of just spawning more enemies etc, how about two DMs log in for a quest. While one sets the challenge, the other DM takes control over an NPC such as Strider, Gandalf, Boromir or a Nazgul to fight along side the party. Adds a little spice into the events. :)

Yesterday, while walking through Tharbad with nothing but a dress and parasol I was walking when a guard screamed put your weapons away and attacked me, the last time I checked neither of these was considered a weapon. The fool was so bold to follow me great distance from the city with hopes of killing me. The fool will be punished for this, even as we speak my companions and I plot his death, and he will pay, oh yes he will pay Muhahhahahah.

One thing that Ive encountered on many servers is when one DM log on as a PC and the other logs on as a DM. This can really confuse players instead of the players just thinking "Hey, thats a DM, lets rp good and beware of monsters spawning where they shouldnt".

That was in the wrong thread, meant for what is happening in the world.

Well I will shortly be pulling myself out of the toolkit and other such distractions and returning to do some more of my DME's.

Some may be planned in advance - others may not be.

Any I plan will be in the DME, otherwise I'll log on, look at who's around and go with it.

Please read my guidelines at the top of this thread just to give you an idea of how I like to do things.

See you on the other side shortly.
