Here we are! All things wizardly! A place where those of us inclined to commit suicide on a daily basis can correspond and provide tips for quicker and more gruesome deaths! ;) Seriously though, we can ask our questions and hopefully get some answers here. Mage specific questions only. I've played wizards in PnP for YEARS untold, and on Nwn since it was first out. Lets pool our resources.

When we say Mage Specific, we are talking about SORCERERS only please. Thanks :)

Heheh pardon me, Sorcerers, and other practitioners of the arcane arts :)

Can anyone explain to me how the Save DC vs arcane spells is calculated? I have assumed that it somehow takes account of Caster level, Spell level, appropriate ability modifier (eg for enchantment school charisma). It'd be great know exactly how this works, thanks.

if its like the table top rules its:

10 + spell level + correlating stat bonus(int for sorceres, wis for clerics/ranger/paladin, cha for bards)

This is the target DC. It can me modified by active spels on the caster and casters feats.

The target must roll a d20 and add it to the save stat as specified by the spell description(Fort. Ref. Will)and beat the spell DC

We have not fiddled with DC's, just durations (bigbys range for example as it was ridiculously long) So I would take what wyrmwrath said as gospel :)

is there actually the "bad-one"-rule in nwn? do all saving throws etc. fail when the player rolls a 1?

Yeah, it runs on the Crit Failure rule, a roll of 1 will always fail, whatever its for. So a Ftr/WM can miss the campfire if they roll a 1, I've had a level 38 character die to an elementals drown attack because he rolled a 1.

Kev I meant if the game engine designers hadn't used an alternate formulae (like they did wuth "stealth mode" and the parry skill), didn't think you fellas mucked with it.

Great, thanks for the explanation Wyrmwrath.
Next question, dispelling. An idiot's guide to this would also be appreciated!
I figured as follows:
(Target spell's level + Caster's level) vs (Dispell spell's level + Dispeller's level + a dice roll of some kind). Way out?
If this is the wrong place to be asking basic questions like this I apologise and please delete. :)

*promises to behave as long sa the ale isn't watered down*

Although in all honesty magic type stuff is the one area of the game where I don't know how it all works.
