As has been mentioned in the Development/Announcements threads the Shire is on its way. First up it won't contacin every region when it arrives - as this would be far too much to start with, however it will contain the more important areas from the Fellowship of the Ring. However some AT's will carry you through several areas of the Shire to the next 'mapped' area for now.

Also as has been said the idea with the shire is for it to contain predominantly non-combat quests so what I'm looking for here is non-combat quest ideas for the Shire Area. To give you some guidance in this remember our setting is between Bilbo leaving the Shire after his 'Long Expected Party' and Frodo leaving the Shire with the ring. Also the areas that the Shire will probably contain to start with are: Hobbiton (complete with Bagend), Bywater (with Green Dragon), Farmer Maggots farm and fields, Brandy Wine Bridge/North Gate to Buckland, Buckland (with Brandybuck Hall and Buckleberry Ferry) and Crickhollow.

Crickhollow should include an access to the Old Forest, but as for when the old forest itself will be added I can't say yet as I don't know.

However please use this thread for any quest ideas in the Shire, based around the above areas, and predominantly non-combat.

Many thanks,
Lorien.

It was said that Bagend had many treasures hidden in tunnels from Bilbo's adventures...
Maybe a rogue type would like to check this rumour out?

i have an idea for a quest however its not strickly non combat

Culling the rats in farmer maggots feild.
there could be little rodents that put up no fight running around the feilds you have to kill them and give the tails to farmer maggot for a little reward. like 5exp and 5gp for each tail or perhaps less.

Quests could be:

1) Earning a few coins and modest xp for collecting in the harvest for one of the elder hobbits or a farmer. The fruits/veg could be a rarish spawning to replicate the uneven fruiting of the plants.

2) Collecting wood for a brewer/baker from nearby woods

3) Harvesting special woods for a tanner/smoker who wants a particular batch from the Old Forest and this could lead onto a further quest which involves visiting other forests further away.

4) Checking the situation with the dwarves in one of the mountain ranges a) to check on why the supplies have stopped and get them started again (something like stopping the flooding of a mine and b) bringing home a hefty supply in the meantime.

5) Collecting a harvest of cotton from a farmstead outside Bree and negotiate a regular supply by doing some chore for the farmer.

better get back to work now...hehe

After Bolbo left the Shire many stories and rumours were told about his sudden disappearing! The Shire inhabitants should often talk about this event!
Maybe there should be a quest to find out where is Bilbo now! (travel to rivendell and back

2.
there could be a quarrel between the mayor and some other hobbits
you shall try to smooth out the differences

The areas of the Shire we plan to use are all setup. Detail work is now being done on them.

To show you the range of inhabbitants, and our new, fatter Barliman for Bree, here is a little sneak peak for you all :)

Visited the Shire yesterday with a group of old friends, Frain was certainly happy to see the road opened at last.
Very nicely done with lots of detail and well worth the wait. A big thumbs up and my thanks to the creators.

I thought I'd pop along to see this new area and wow I was really stunned by the amount of detail and number of zones.

It is obvious that a lot of love and care has been put into this and is a crowning achievement. I take my helm off to the designers, brought lots of fond memories back from when I first saw the fellowship.

Now, off to the temple to plot what nefarious deeds I can get up to there...
