Please note that this is not a witch hunt! please vote the truthful answer - there is no way we can identify who has voted.

Im just interested in seeing if the arena is affecting builds in any way. Someone told me that it is, but I believe it isnt :P

So please help us by just voting 'yes', my character is influenced by the arena or 'no, my character isnt influenced by the arena.

Thanks.

Neither the Arena or PvP particularly effect my character builds at all. I just go with what seems to fit my character as I level up - as I don't particularly plan my character in advance - other than knowing what prestige class I want and making sure I have the right feats for this, I just look at whats available and how it fits with my character.

I dp play so I've voted and the arena does not effect me (Heh, I run it as Mathas :P). I have a very balanced range of stats for my rogue/spy, purely to relect his intelligence, skill and charisma.

If I remember correctly;

STR 12
DEX 14 (all bonus stats go here)
CON 12
INT 16
WIS 10
CHA 14

I do just the same as ghost81.. I choose what suits the character I'm playing as and when I go.. though I do have a vague plan for them..

Still I think I've only ever fought in the arena twice now, once as a badger with Vyl & once with Alyssandra & I doubt Luthianna will ever make an appearance there, it not really being the most ideal place for stealthy types :)

the only character i really use in the arena is Urrurz and he is suited to it because of his class, the arena does'nt affect the way i build him or any other characters because its just a bit of fun once a week

Well I can say, my characters that I create are not influenced by getting my Arse whipped in the arena, which does happen quite often. :camper:

I have an idea about my characters individuality more than combat prowess, however we all like characters that can survive for a few seconds, so basic skills/stats are vital for each class.

I my opinion, your are more remembered for being unique then for being the best combatant in the arena.

unfortunately every tuesday i have to work in the evening and therefor still hadnt got the time to join the arena in utt2 (in utt1 cuferedir never won a fight cause he was an A.A.)

maybe tomorrow i will have the time to join!

i am not sure but i might be that Yûshmar would be a good arena fighter (instead of level 11 which is the lowest level of its league i guess)

he is a scimitar weaponmaster and i play and level him like an scimitar weaponmaster...he has a high chance of getting a critical strike (now: 15-20 with level 13: 13-20 with a keen weapon even 10-20)
on the other hand he is not good at magic resistance or is able to spot anything that'S smaller than smaug

i would like to be strong in PvP but thats never the main reason how i'll level him. the main goal is to strike as critical as possible thats his main goal either...
i wouldnt level different if there wasnt any arena (so i never have the time unfortunately)

I'd like to have some more PvP encounters for my char
in the way i had with karleta for a several times in utt1:
they were great, there was a great story context when she let me alive to bring a bad message to master elrond
this was an great excuse for rasing the opponent and start an event which duration was quite long (burz and sagra all the dwarves and and and were involved by beeing on sarumans death list)
before i get off topic... i am of course glad if my char is good in PvP or in the arena but that's not how i will develop him

see you i hope in the arena (please let me have time soon)
:)

I never think about arena play, when developing a character. This is because I have never yet played in an arena event. The reason being, I always go out on a Tuesday night. If you were ever to change the day of the arena battles or my night out changes. I am sure I will start to use the arena.

Until then, I will just have to let other people beat themselves to a pulp. :)

I took into consideration of possible PvP encounters when building my character but the arena was not known to me at the time.

But my build is not 100% PvP either.

i've never been to the arena neither, as i am not able to stay at home tuesday evening. other pvp does not influence my char's progress.
in utt1, delin had one or two death magic spells in stock, just in case some really really much higher char would agress him, but this never happened. in utt2, i can hardly imagine this, so i'll leave it be when i am at a level where death magic is disponible...

My main characters are a singer, a healer and a trapper. The arena has no influence on them at all as they are all useless at PvP.
I do have a barbarian who's completely melee orientated but not with arena particularly in mind, more for a fun change from characters who fall over if a goblin sneezes in their direction!

Well I gotta say that I really enjoyed last nights Arena Event, I think everyone present really got into the spirit of things, some of the barracking and jibing had me laughing all the way through the event (all two hours of it).. Well done to everyone especially DMKev for keeping everything running smoothly... :P

It's the first time I have been to the Arena so I took my Uruk along Barash'Matum as he is the best fighter i have in my arsenal, I only play him on occassion now as I really prefer to play the sneaky Rogue/Assassin type.

After last night I will only play Barash in the Arena, like a champion in his class, to fight against other champions of a similar rank/Class/lvl. I have in no way "built" him for this role but i think it will suit him down to the ground and I dont think that the Arena has a big influence on the day to day RP that is MERPUK.

This will obviously mean that Barash will no longer gain xp so he wont be going any higher than lvl 9 and will only be able to challenge those of a similar lvl.

Now I have the best of both worlds, the great fun of the Arena on a Tuesday evening and the enjoyment of great RP in the "outside world" with my sneaky Rogue/Assassin :)

Thoughts please...... :)

I have to agree the Arena event last night was absolutely incredible! It was my first time there and I must say that everyone was amazing in terms of role-playing and I really had a great time. The trip to Moria after the event was also amazing, too bad that dragon got all of us... :P

Anyway, back to topic, my answer is obviously NO! I don't think I will ever change anything in my character because of the Arena. The skills and feats I go with are based on my character's physical features and personality, of course I made sure I had everything I needed for my chosen prestige class but that's it.
