my cpu keeps crashing

i know this could be due to many reasons. i just want you to know i'm not just loggin in and out as i like to.
for the crashes: i do not have any idea why this is happening. it does this since two months now, in the beginning this was rare. but today it happened three or four times allready.

my screen turns black or shows fancy coloured stripes. i still can hear the music so i assume it is a graphic-card problem. i updated my driver but no changes in sight. i opened up my computer to see if it is a heating problem but still it keeps crashing. i never saw this problem with other, newer, graphically more complex games like e.g. dawn of war, kotor or doom3 (which are all goddaam boring - i absolutely and only want to play NEVERWINTERNIGHTS *curses without pause*)

pleeeeze help me or tell me some nwn-tech-forum where i can get help. i am sure this is a nwn problem

well now i have the whole thing opened widely and it works. but you could cook an egg on the graphic card. is this normal? i can barely touch it without burning my finger.

now i think this is the problem. but why does it only occur when i play nwn? the other games i mentioned above have much more demanding graphics.

You know for the longest time my laptop would turn off as if the power had been cut to it, but only when NWN was running. Eventually I realized that it was overheating...sort of like your problem. I basically just do my best to keep it cool by not setting it on the couch where it could heat up and it hasn't crashed on me in some time. You could try putting a little fan or something to cool it down...I don't know.

i`ll ask the shop where i bought the computer to replace the g-card. there's still a warranty for it, so i wont be shy...

You didn't like my simple bash it till it works help? It always works for me...who needs to know about graphic card speed anyways when you have a rock to threaten the machine with...

that's so right prophet7! i threathened the bugger several times allready to throw it out of the window (4th floor). the problem is: this little mother knows very well that i spent 1000,- € to buy it so it doesn't believe a word...
