Its not a "critical my PC is gonna die" effect, but I am curios....
I noticed that as a level 11 sorcerer/wizard with a +9 int bonus, the manuals say I should have the following spells castable per rest:
0ish 6
1st 8
2nd 6
3nd 6
4th 5
5th 4
6th 2
However what I have is:
0ish 4
1st 7
2nd 6
3nd 6
4th 5
5th 4
6th 2
All that means is I am short 2 cantrip/level 0 and one first level spell. I am jusy curious if anyone knows why that is? I doubt 2 rays of frost and a magic missle will ever save my PCs life, but I had to ask.
According to both my Player Handbook and the NWN manual, you get the correct amount of spells. Cantrips are never gained as a bonus for high intelligence, so thay'll stay at 4. A wizard of level 11 has a base of 4 first level spells, and an intelligence bonus of +9 increases that by 3, which makes 7 :)
On the other hand, a sorceror -with a chosen and fixed spell selection- would benefit from high charisma. With a bonus of +9 he'd cast 6/9/8/8/8/6 spells a day.

read read your book page 189 and 72 of the NWN manual...spell per day for level 11 wizard are:
0ish 6
1st 5
2nd 4
3nd 4
4th 3
5th 2
6th 1
+9 int bonus adds
0ish +0
1st +3
2nd +2
3nd +2
4th +2
5th +2
6th +1
Unless my manual is in error, that ads up to the following as I see it:
0ish 6
1st 8
2nd 6
3nd 6
4th 5
5th 4
6th 2
Unless my manual is in error
hmm that cant be true Eddie, maybe your misinterpreting the manual? I think the max you have quoted is if you have no Int bonuses or penalties.
I do think though that for cantrips (lvl 0 spells) max is 4 irrespective of Int and level. I have played Wiz for quite a while and dont ever remember having more than 4 cantrip spell slots.
For spell lvls above 0, I have had upto 8 or 9 spells (max possible I think).
I believe the max without any Int bonuses is 4 per a level, but from what I do recall of DnD, you don't get bonus spells equal to your Int bonus - its not quite this straight forward.
First thing to remember is that although our caster is called Sorcerer they're actually the wizard class, but renamed when you log in, so you do need to look at Wizard not Sorcerer spell levels.
So by casting level 9 you get 4 of each spell level. The Int bonus works a little differently.
So a plus 9 Int bonus should give 0 extra lvl0 spells, 3 exta lvl1, 2 extra of levles 2,3,4,5 and 1 extra of other levels.
So according to my manials your lvl11 should have(if he'snpw getting lvl6 spells:
0: 4 +0 = 4
1: 4 +3 = 7
2: 4 +2 = 6
3: 4 +2 = 6
4: 3 +2 = 5
5: 2 +2 = 4
6: 1 +1 = 2
Which according to your first post is what you have. I think though you've been looking at the sorcerer spells per level table rather than wizard, so just remember although the Character class says sorcerer its actually following the NWN wizard rules.
okaly dokaly Eddie.

nope...looking at the wiz chart, level 11 sorcerer on page 188 gets:
0ish 6
1st 6
2nd 6
3nd 6
4th 6
5th 4
6th 0(doesnt get level 6 spells yet)
As a matter of fact the only class the doesnt have 5 or more 1st level spells at level 11, according to my book, are Bard (3 3 3 3 1), pally and ranger (1 1 0)
SO... my book is the only one that says an 11th level wizard, with no int bonuses added in, gets:
0ish 6
1st 5
2nd 4
3nd 4
4th 3
5th 2
6th 1
????????
So it would appear. I've checked my manual time and time again - my chart is on page 165 - in the Appendix A - Charts and Tables section and it quite clearly shows that at no level does a wizards number of base spells go above 4.
I've been trying to find an online copy of the Spells per Day chart to no avail - however if anyone has one if they post it we can see what it says.
In fact the number of spells showing in your last post is what my book says a cleric should get at level11.
Such a table is readily available in the official Player's Handbook, as I pointed out in my first post on this thread. A copy of all standard 3.5 D&D handbooks can be found on WoTC's website (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35) . At no point a wizard will get more than 4 spells a level, not considering bonusses for high intelligence.
Cheers, if you follow the above link and look at the Charactser Classes II document (can just be opened) scroll down to Wizard and theres the spells per level - it matches what I have in my NWN book.
Very nice document that Eddie.. thanks for sharing:)
