I just upgraded to windows xp proffesional(corporate) from Windows xp home.

The Ping rate on ALL the NWN online games has shot up over 700!!!!

Any idea why this has happened and how I fix the problem.

Otherwise I am truely *****

Windows firewall. Most likely. Disable it, get a good one.

Aye, could be one of MS helpful online services that help you by wasting your bandwidth, like error reporting and such

Try a few things mate ; as the chaps say update drivers, the firewall (control panel), internet security settings (control panel->internet options), and the various windows services (control panel->admin tools->computer management->services&applications->services) can all be tweaked to satisfaction.
Sometimes the high PING return is cos a setting somewhere is disallowing ICMP (the protocol to do with pings); the connection may be fine and dandy but you get shocking ping returns, or you get shocking ping values AND a crap connection, sometimes shocking ping due to the number of jumps, size of packets(*cough*), or bandwidth issues.
Easy checking may be done through the command console; ping a known IP address (start->run->type command press ok and type PING/? in the command line for options) and see what that returns.
And do system saves before ya change anything major, or at least take screenies of different combinations so you can back track if ya screw up.
Or get a mac. :D

get some other firewall anyway! the windows-firewall is not likely to block internet-acces for windows itself. and windows is one big pile of spyware!
