Hello :) I have been noticing that my lesser spell breach doesn't seem to be workign properly ont he black numenorian sorcerers, or other tough opponents at all. The spell itself doesn't have a saving throw and is ont affected by spell resistance, is it a bioware issue or has the spell been modified. Also I've noticed that some of my spell save DC's are not being calculated correctly. the example being that a black numenorian (fighter type) made a save against a hold person scroll and the combat data read " Will save vs HOld person: 10 +11 = 21 vs DC 15. That save DC is WAY off from what it should be if i cast the spell, unless bioware uses a "default mage" to cast it. my save DC should have been 10 (base DC) + 3 (spell level) + 11 (my Int bonus) = 24 not 15. Again tihs was a scroll and i'm not sure how bioware calculates them, so this last part may not be a bug.

We have made changes to dispelling and scrolls.

I was not the one who made these changes. If I catch the fellow who did, I will ask him to explain them.

Spell breach, and most dispells, have indeed been modified to account for differences in caster level and dispelling caster level, among other things. See manual for details. Please note that this modification has been in effect for a long time (since the beginnings of UTT2 at least), and is not a newly introduced feature.

As for the spell DC -- I was pretty sure we don't modify that, but I checked. It is calculated by a call to Bioware's GetSpellSaveDC function. This means that the calculated DC is either correct, or a Bioware bug. I imagine that, when using scrolls, default character bonuses are used -- so presumably +2 is the default int bonus for a level 5 sorcerer, who could cast Hold Person. The reasoning behind this is quite sound -- rogues shouldn't be able to cast spells from scrolls that are as strong as those cast by characters who have dedicated their lives to the arcane.

Ah thanks for the clarification. I hadn't realised that spell breach and whatnot had been modified. When the term dispel was used i mistook it for the actual spells (Dispel and greater dispel) and not the lesser and greater spell breaches as well. I kind of figured that the Save DC for scrolls must have been from a default caster once i used it and it came up as 15, but again thanks very much for checking into it and getting back to me so quickly.

I have noticed that the time lock on spells has a problem. If you log off before the timelock on a spell has been removed, the next time you log on the spell cannot be cast at all, as it always fails. And you cannot get the timer to reset. Until the next reset that is.

I do not know if anything can be done about this.

yes just wait half a minute before you log :)

I am aware of the problem... It is more severe with things like Greater Sanctuary, where the timelock is 4 minutes. I will make a fix and send it to Kev -- expect to see it in the next update.

I must admit though this problems strike me as an amusing, if unintentional laugh in the face of people who might be tempted to log out to regain spells - argh now I can't cast them until the next server reset.
