View Full Version : Danger in Tharbad

Okay, first off it's my fault yes. I've taken 3 respawns at level 8 for my stupidity. But...

I went to see how I'd do with the Dunland Quest solo (yeah I know, but was up early, no-one on, bored...). It didn't go well so I thought I'd try and lose a bunch of wildmen that were chasing me. I legged it all the way to Tharbad, thinking that they would a) not be able to enter b) be attacked by the watchmen.

Neither happened. So there are two Dunland Wildmen in Tharbad (Bree entrance) waiting to attack anyone who enters (oh and also a guard that kills me when I try to go back in to lead them out because I had a weapon drawn... They didn't ask the wildmen to put their weapons away though did they, oh no... that mayor has a lot to answer to...)

Bit of a mess really, totally and utterly apologise, completely my fault, but it does highlight a couple of issues...

:(

btw, just to clarify and kind of continue the Deadlogging/player ethics thread - I had actually escaped alive, I could have just kept away from Tharbad, or logged off, butI went back to try and correct my mistake and get them away from Tharbad, which was when I died (repeatedly until there was nothing more I could do - even though I had no more xp to lose on this level).

So if nothing else, this is a possible exploit - someone could lead some baddies into a town to hurt other players (or just NPCs - I got the kids killed :( )

With Kev's permission, I'll set the Dunland and Tharbad factions as hostile to each other. Would make sense, really. We've had similar problems in the past, but they've largely led to people killing commoners. With the new "no weapons drawn" script, the guards really should attack Dunlanders.

*looks to Kev for the go-ahead*

This happened again today (I think). NOT my fault this time :)

But I logged in with Hrolf who had been left in Tharbad - as soon as it loaded I found myself under attack by two baddies. I *think* they were Dunlanders but I logged out again as soon as it dawned on me what was happening (huh? wtf... uh oh! run!).

I met those dunlendings as well, but after either luring them into a shop, and smashing them down to size. Or by using an expendable summons (those town guards sure are ruthless to people attacking there 'friends') The threat was once again solved.

However the simple answer is.. do not let people 'lure' the dunlendings to bree looking for safety as there is none. And only causes problems for other people.

Of course, Aule. We have many factions and it can get very tedious and complicated when you have to set their relationships to each other :P
