Heh... after last night's (v enjoyable) fracas my Priest character levelled to 5.
However, he was "aiding" others, and his *own* quests had stalled at the sorcerous orbs bit.
Today, however we found that the Mage and Smith (black numenoreans) considered him too powerful for their quests, yet Khamul refused to treat with him since he hadnt "distinguished" himself (ie he doesnt have a pass to khamul because he never did the tombs quest for himself).
So the character will never get the "supplies token" or the last 4 quests from Gulder.
I can play it out ok ("i serve others") but will miss the benefits of the quests...,
Maybe if a character is too high level for the Mage and the Smith, khamul can still give quests to them?
Or would a friendly DM drop my Priest a supplies token/freedom token.. for services rendered last night viz a viz Chief Snofly and the annoying Beernings?
Ta.

That's a known issue -- if chars advance too fast without doing the quests themselves, then Khamul ends up ignoring them. It hasn't been a real problem, as in theory characters were meant to leave the Dol Guldur area by roughly that level, and really the only thing you miss out on are the "special stores" in Dol Guldur, which, between us, are quite crappy anyway.. ;)

We have several evil areas in the works, most of which are aimed at low-mid levels. When we include them, the transition from Dol Guldur to Isengard-levels should be a lot easier, there'll be more stuff to do to get between levels 5 and 8.

I'm not really sure if it's worth fixing this issue in any way. If you think about it, Khamul will still consider someone a thrall if he hasn't had any personal dealings with them, so I'm tempted to say we should leave it as-is. And provide more quests, as I said. We're on it. :)

Oky-doky :)
Just thought i'd post since the char had dealings with a dm-driven khamul is all. At the moment he cant afford anything from the "special supplies" anyway, but the path to level 20 is long and its the nearest place to get better than +1 healing kits is all to some of the interesting higher level quests (Bight and the dwarf mine) .. i'll live with it:)
Intermediate level quests eh .... i can sense several new characters coming along *sigh* :)
