I have just had the unusual experience of logging on an seeing my goblin character already on, at one point when I logged on with mine there were 2 of us, they have the same name, template, levels etc and when people send tells to either I receive them. Ive been having problems with this characters quests for a couple days now, but this is something else entirly. Has the server become unstable or what ???? and no im not crazy other people can testify to this. Anyway, just thought I would bring this to your attention. Last time I saw the phantom shathlana was friday night at 10 pm EST if that helps.

I sent tells to both cindys and she received both. Either she has a double personality syndrome and a second computer or the server is bugged. I'd also like to point out that several hobbits were missing before the last server restart.
My theory is that the merpuk server is slowly acquiring consciousness and is expressing itself through random bugs. Soon enough, _it_ will control every aspect of our lives like the Patriots in metal gear solid.
I, for one, welcome our new computer overlords.

The phantom vanished around midight but exhisted approx 4 or 5 hours, just so you know.
The logs confirm that there was a period during which your account was logged in twice on the server. We are taking what measures we can, but if you see it happen again, please let us know on IRC or using some other channel -- it would be much easier if we could actually see it.

Recently there was an issue with players missing the lev 9 cap on Khamuls quest that concludes your career at the Dol and moves you on to darker and better things. I decided to make a simple fighter type and see for myself (as it had been a while since i had played that cycle of quests). Well the upshot of it was that as far as i can see the problem only exists if you take other quests outside the confines of Dol Guldur. My character has done most of the Dol Guldur quests and has developed quite nicely. Occasionally he has repeated stuff that was half done before a reset or was necessary in order to start the next quest that hadnt carried over the reset. So far he has reached level 5 and has done the first of Khamuls quests (the 3 elf captains). If i conclude with the final quest, i will probably be no higher than level 6, just the right level to tackle some of the neutral faction quests lin tharbad and forochel, to build myself up to starting the Isengard ones.
Nice to see that it really does work the way its supposed to. :)
As far as this "player" is concerned the Dol Guldur quests are not broken as some have claimed, although the final level cap my change at some point (unconfirmed) to accomodate those who decide that they dont wish to be loyal servants of the mighty Ringwraith...
For their insolence, may they be carried away to the houses of lamentation... beyond all darkness.... where their flesh shall be ripped, and their shrivelled soul left naked to the lidless eye !!!

I agree that something like level cap for quests are needed, but I would rather suggest another thing to stop people from powergaming (that is, redoing the same quest just to get the exp). Every time you do a certain quest you get a small questitem in your inventory (a weightless one square item) that is unsellable and undroppable. If you have the certain item for that quest, you may not do the quest again. Why do I suggest this way instead of a lvlcap on quests? Because as it is now it is hard to go out with high level parties just because you might gain to much exp and advance a level thus missing the quests appropriate for that level.
Most quests already have a non drop quest item. However alot of small quests are repeatable.
As for questing with characters above your level, if you are wandering around with others players that are well above your level, then that is akin to 'powerleveling'. Stick to people of your own level ish. And this problem will not occur.
I have managed to get 2 characters to very high levels, over a long period of time. I found no problem with sort of repeating of quests, as long as there is a considerable time between repeating the quest (at least a single reboot between each repeat).
This is not a race, and if you rush too much you miss half the fun, which is of course interaction and roleplaying.

:) Im not racing, although lately as Ive been logging on with my low level orc, the only players Ive been able to team up with has been about 5 lvls above me. This automatically gives me more exp. Im after the rp and not just hacking my way to high lvls, so I really dont care witch kind of party I join, as long it is a party (well, not exactly true :) I try to join up with people that at least have a sense of how to play a brutish ugly orc)
