Which animal to tame?

I am thinking of training a tamer char and i am confused... With taming which animal my char will gain most skill points per time? Also i heard that the skill increases with a slow rate between 50 and 60 and after passing 60 char will gain skill faster. is it true?

in theory you will get best gains by taming an animal that is 5% above your taming skill (see this table for what animals have different skill levels: http://uo.wireplay.co.uk/index.php?p=skills&type=Taming)
however in practise you will gain less from fail attempts (which you will have more of with harder creatures) and so i try to aim for animals at the same level as my skill.

As for a slow rate between 50-60% it's the first time i've heard anyone say that, but its possible i suppose...(it could just be that at 50-60% people are new to taming and so dont have as good a system for it :) )

just a question but how can you tame something thats 5% above your skill. You wouldn't have enough taming to tame something at 55 if you only had 50 skill. Not being an arse was just a question. :E

The minimum required skill to attempt to tame a creature is 5% less than it's required skill to be tamed (In the case of the Alligator, which requires 60% Taming to be tamed, you only need 55% to actually attempt to do so)
