first of all, I will introduce myself; I am ynos the fair.
this is my first pc and my first game, which were given to me by my 2 boys.

my first question: when I am pked in a mine, and I double-click on the incognito player,
I see a paper doll with the name (man, woman), how can I place a bounty on someone that is incognito?

secondly: Is it ok to block the entrance of a mine? ie; when pked, I find myself trapped in the mine by a brick wall or a force field or both, (what really bothers me about this practice is that once i am dead I cannot resume my game play, but, must wait for the magery to wear off before going to an ank of rez. If this practice is ok, then, It should be
ok for me to block the entrance to said mine in order to protect myself. Which in effect,
prevents other players from mining.

thirdly: I have accumulated a certain amount of money in my bank box, the problem is that it is seperated into 2 piles and I can't seem to make 1 pile of it. I have tried to place the money in a bag to no avail, this causes another problem when purchasing items in shops, as I purchase, the amount showing is the value of 1 pile only.

there is no rule against players using fields to block the enterance to a mine (either to protect themselves or to trap others)

so sad that the people who incognito and kill miners are usually very stupid and unskilled players. on another note, i dont think blocking a mine should be allowed, its lame as all heck and like he said, you cant get back to your stuff or to an ankh until the wall or whatever has disappeared.

i can see the reason why people would feel that this sort of blocking should be illegal, however i see two main directions such an argument could take and neither end up at the rules you want:

1. we make it illegal to block mine enterances with any field spell, pks will object but the above argument will be made 'well go pick on someone who can fight back', then we start to get complaints about people being killed in their house (going in poisoned and dying for example) and someone has fielded their door so now they cant get out or get back in to get their items. Now by the same definition we should make that illegal, as its stopping people getting ressed or getting to their stuff. Then if we make that illegal we'll get people who get killed at britain bridge or in the warehouse and cant res/get items because theres fields in the way, this could go on and on until we have to disable field spells all together.

2. it could be argued that miners should just not mine in such obvious places, over my time on loth i've made several miner characters (never had the patience to gm it though :) ) and i have never once been killed while mining, its because i find places to mine that less people go, i still get to find a lot of good ores and i dont end up getting killed because pk's just dont look there.

Either way while it might be annoying to some players, i think it would be worse for the shard if we made it illegal.

making comments like this are the reason many miners end up dead in the first place, there are several times i've walked past a mine and had incog on for some reason and i see a miner say something like 'omg another stupid noob whos going to kill me for ores' and so i do kill him, not because i was planning to, but because i dont like being insulted.

last time i checked while as a ghost you can walk through field spells to get ressed anyway.

last time i was killed while mining i think i was in ice isle. the noob didnt block off the mine, but the way you get to the mine with about 10 wall of stones, i ressed he killed, i ressed he killed. then he started taking the pi$$ by jsut using magic arrow, so i killed him with a pickaxe, got mine and his stuff and runed home

you can run through paralyze and firefields etc. when dead but not stonewalls or energy fields.

nah, you just tell them not to be buttholes and corpse camp, once you kill someone you shouldn't grief them to the poin where they can't get into their house, thats just being a penishead, seriously. also, im always very polite with someone runs up to me in a mine, sometimes its just another moiner, sometimes its someone who is curious, sometimes its a jackass with no skill in pking whatsoever like the last guy who blocked off the mine and then tried to poison me but i just kept running out of los, after wall of stone faded i ran into my tower. Also i agree find a mine that is out of the way to mine in, sadly the mine i have my tower to has turned out to be a very popular place. *wishs farthrex, robin hood, nook and the gang still played*

or my way of not getting killed mineing make friends with 90% of the pks on the shard by supplieing them with items for a lower cost or when they need help help them thats what i did and barely anyone kills me in mines another way is stop wineing about it most pks including myself when i was a pk eons ago think its amusing when u wine about being killed and lose intrest when you honestly couldnt care less not just saying it cause most times you can tell when some says oh well i died who cares and means it or is just trying to play it off

But, I feel It has gone in the wrong direction. I'm not asking for a rule change.
Although I am new to the game, I feel that there might be other ways of counteracting this
phenomena, such as: placing an ank of rez in mines, or, disabling the blocking spells in the mines. You may all have some ideas as to how this can be accomplished.

I for one, will develop only one character, when I reach my goals, {gm smitty}, I will eliminate those skills and learn others that will enable me to participate in other activities on the shard.

It is my way of roleplaying.

I expect to be killed, but I also expect to resume my gameplay asap when I am killed.

I have found other mines to develop my skills, and have suffered the same fate, with the exception that I found myself to be further from an ank. (dishearthening)

Please don't view this as a "bitch".

maybe if someone cared to philosophise that aspect of the game, it would help me to understand.


I suppose that I am frustated at times, and maybe, I'm venting my frustration here in this forum.

Either way, please feel free to post your thoughts on pking in mines. ( hopefully this will enlighten me)

It's not hard to mine, earn money and buy a house close to the mine. Also if you refresh the status page http://195.224.41.31:2593/status.html it shows if pkers are one. Yes I know some blues kill miners but the more you get to know people the less chance you will have of being pked (as Stray did say which is true).

personally I mine the sides of mountains, and stay out of mines. Run in a mine to smelt if I feel the urge, but if I'm not in a mine, I never see anyone.
