Items locked down in a chest, just vanished from my friends house, any ideas?
3500 pine logs, vanished, 4000 odd regs, 200 or sore iron ore and a suit of armor - gone overnight, no explination. But all of his rare logs, locked down in the same chest are still there. Anyone have any ideas? He is freaking
you cant lock down something in a chest.....:)
my first guess would be to look into who else might have key/co-owner access
if there are too many items in an area then some will vanish, so if your friends house was very large with lots of items on that might be the cause
It could be that someone stealthed outside his door, waited for someone to come in and then sneak in.
Really from what you've said there are thousands of possibilities for how it could happen.

well that sort of sucks, can people open chests that are locked down? He only has 1 chest in the house, and its a small house in glow. I'm the only co-owner. So stealth maybe?
Do you have to lock stuff down indvidually, not in chests? I always assumed if the chest was locked down, whatever was in it, was auto locked down.
Got similiar situation - some money gone from my chest, never find out who took it, but I know that someone did - how?? I asked MSC too look in logs, gived him coordinates of box, and number and kind of items gone. He then can look if someone took them or not, but hell not be allowed to tell you who was it, unless you have a proof that it was taken illegaly (f.e. using a bug that sometimes due doors are locked ppl can go in or in another bug get inside youre house - thats what I suspect happend too me but im not sure). Using stealth isnt illegal as far as I know so if you havent got proof - nevermind. Live with it as I did.
P.S. Im sorry for youre loss, luckylly items missing are quite easy to get back - need only some time
items in chests are not locked down, if you want them to be then you have to leave them outside the chest and lock them down.
People cannot open strongboxes, but any other sort of chest its possbile to open whether they are locked down or not.

Ah - stong box for him then. I'll let him know.. and now I know in my house nothing is safe. I have all my crap in a barrel. I better fix that.
one recommendation i'd give is get some floor traps if your worried about people coming into your house. My main store house you'd have to walk over a minimum of 3 deadly floor traps to get in, i find it works quite well ;)
What lies! :D I walked through that when we was trading some robes or something like that months ago!
different house pariah ;) that one only had two to walk over
