View Full Version : Wireplay Radio Service Suspended - Explanation
Hi everyone.
As some of you know from reading the global announcement, I'm your new Community Manager (:wavey:). I'm going to be heading up some changes to the Wireplay Radio service which will hopefully increase it's number of listeners and make it an all-round better service which reflects the direction of Wireplay today.
In order to effect the changes I've discussed with Breath, Vamps and Sid, I have decided to temporarily suspend the Wireplay Radio service. All those previously involved in roles with the service have been released from their positions. I would like to stress that nobody has been sacked.
It is my intention that this closure be as brief as possible. Over the coming days (time allowing) I will be publishing what we are expecting from the Wireplay Radio service and then I will reopen the service to applications for the position of Wireplay Radio Manager. The applications will be thoroughly checked and discussed by myself and the other three managers and then we will select who we feel can best implement our plans for the service.
Until then, I ask you for your patience whilst we sort out the future of the Wireplay Radio service.

No point having DJ's when they don't know what or how to present WPRadio :P
Once a new Manager is taken on, he or she may appoint DJs.
Wow! Sounds like exciting and dangerous times lie ahead Harry, I mean for WPR.

This is a real positive step, rather than meandering on with no purpose, leadership or direction, break it down and restart with a solid base. I support this action and applaude whoever took the initiative to do so. It would be nice to think those that are keen to support WPR will still be here after due process and help make a solid reliable comunity radio station work for Wireplay. It is never going to be Radio One but it should be fun and most of all as good as reliable, I really hope to see all those old faces back here for the launch date. Most of all I hope this action recieves full support from the people who initiated the process in the first place.

My, my, how words come back to haunt us - what happened to LieutLaww and you rebuilding WPR, Kev? Didn't you specifically tell me that the only reason I was angry with the appointments made was because I wanted the jobs?
Nevertheless, I intend to carry on with WPR, should it ever start up again. Unfortunately, I have great reason to doubt this.
Time to wait and see, I suppose.
Can you sack someone when you don't pay them for a service? Just re-reading the posts. :homer:
From reading it I believe we will see the service resume, and if the strategy is correct it will be a better service than before. Be interesting to see the ideas though, am curious how much longer to wait? :r2d2:
Yes (http://dictionary.cambridge.org/define.asp?key=69315&dict=CALD), sacking is dismissing someone from their job, whether they are paid or not :P

I have a few things ready to put up here, but I must show them to the other community managers first.
I'd just like to point out to those slightly hostile at whats going on here for whatever past grievances; We came to the decision to suspend the service here and review it's running because WP Radio has been up and down the past few months. We have ideas to improve it, but to do this, it must be brought in line with the direction of Wireplay today and address the concerns of listeners. I have been assigned with addressing these problems as best I can so that a new WP Radio manager can step in and run the place with all the support from Wireplay Management they need.
I will not be running WP Radio. I'm responsible for the recruitment of a new Manager who can best implement our plan of action for WP Radio. Once this person is appointed, they can take on DJ's, manage the radio server and website and control the WPRadio IRC channel and Forum. Myself and the other Community Managers will be closely monitoring their progress - and giving them our full support.
As for timing - Expect a document posted here either later today or tomorrow at the earliest. :)

but as far as im aware ssmmdd has been around longer, so why cant he do the job?
