Ok, I've taken the plunge and decided we will give Umbar some serious development time and get it setup for new Evil players.

Once the new evil quest is complete, i'll move onto it.

From you lovely people, I need ideas!

I have a few quests planned, but from all of you I will welcome any idea - be it a simple placeable, a conversation, a store, etc. This is an open discussion - all ideas will be considered. Though no shark attacks, scurvy effects and mermaids please :P

Let's make Umbar a great place to start your evil characters and for new players to get a good taster of our community :)

I think it would be nice to see a dog fighting arena where you could bet on wich dog will win. This could also be done with slave and there could be a quest that You go in the arena to fight something or someone of your challenge for your own Glory and for gold. Trichery could be possible by perhaps add some poison in your ennemy food or in one of the concurrent food that you bet against.

I really like that idea Djihesse. I'll add that to the list and see if i can come up with a good implementation of it.

Caravan escort service. A merchant is looking for a group (a party of 3-4 or more) to escort him to the destination X. This could work like someone following you as an henchmen but who wont fight at any moment thatyou need to protect or it could be a selection of special map on some road where you get ambush by bandit, orc, animal or ... In any of those case, there should be a possibility to avoid the fight by talking, by giving some gold or....

Just a though that perhaps could give a better idea to someone...

Some random ideas for quests:

1 - Harbourmaster XXXX is sick. He wants you to help him keep track of the boat traffic in Umbar today. He passes his nice, thick log and asks you to make a note of all the ships that are currently docked in Umbar. He says he'll pay ofcourse

2 - Ahh that old beauty of a ship, YYYY, is here already, is it? Our friend, the harbourmaster, now wants you to go visit Captain ZZZZ onboard the YYYY to collect a promised package containing some questionable things. He promises a wee bit of gold as reward. The ME equivalent of a pesky customs official can be found patroling not far from the ship. Persuade/Bluff/Bribe/Kill customs official as required

3 - You have the potential now to become a nice old smuggler. Go to inn WWWW and meet VVVV. VVVV challenges you to a drinking competition ala the Seedy Tavern one in the OC. Upon successfully proving that you are a confirmed drunkard, you are asked to check out a 'potential' Gondorian spy that has taken up rooms upstairs. Find out what you can and finish him off.

Oh and can we go for a ... umm catfight instead of a dogfight? :naughty:

This project is an excellent idea with a lot of potential, but I'm going to have to shelve it untill I have the time to do it. I have too many bigger commitments to fulfill before a project of this size. I don't want to start it and end up making a rushed, half decent job of it as it wouldn't do Luth's work justice.

For the meantime, I will commit to smaller developments as required.

This thread will be unlocked when the project resumes.
