View Full Version : 1.67 Patch!

It seems the 1.67 Patch for nwn has been released... and with it comes many new things.

However... I cannot stress this enough.

DO NOT INSTALL THE PATCH YET

We require a CEP patch (that is, if CEP 2 isnt going to be released anytime soon) and once we have the CEP patch, I will need to edit the prc to make it work, so this patch is both good, as it means more stuff to play with, and yet, also bad, as it means more work to do.

But oh well... anyway, please do not install the patch until everything is set up for it to work.

Thank you.

Thanks for announcing so promptly, Avalyn :)

I should also add that (as many of us know) Wireplay servers' operating system is Linux. The Linux version of the patch is always (usually the case anyway) released a few days after the windows version has been released. So because of this there is a delay in patching the server.

However, as Avalyn stated, some features of the patch affect the PRC work in the module and this must be accomodated for before we patch.

So please, DO NOT PATCH NWN IF YOU STILL WISH TO PLAY ON OUR SERVER! If you have patched, check the Bioware updates pages for a patch reverter, which will enable you to remove the 1.67 patch and play with us again.

Thankyou for your co-operation and enjoy the game.

But also note that as the patch itself isn't even on the Bioware site, the reverter isn't available yet...

Patch and reverter now on Bioware site.

Will you guys be using the new scripting functions for randomly spawned traps?

Great news -- according to Bioware's site (http://nwn.bioware.com/support/patch.html), the Linux patch is already available! There's some great new stuff included. *starts downloading the patch*

Well i really appreciate your enthusiasm to get 1 step ahead, however it might be wise to wait until a DM actually gives the go ahead, otherwise you will only be wasting your time.

So hold off a short while longer.

Refer back to the start of this thread by Avalyn. The Bioware patches are only half the story (one for the server, one for the client, so that's 2 of 4 elements needed). We then need to wait for the CEP patch/new version and for Avalyn to test/update the prc.

Indeed. Await our announcement of the server being patched before patching your copy to avoid disapointment :)

Though thats not to stop you patching if you want to check out all the cool new features. Just be warned that we wont be patching for a while yet. We will make an announcement when we are ready :)

I've been hearing something about a spell caster bug in which Wizards and Sorcerors are unable to log into ELC servers with an error of "Too many feats." This should definetely get sorted out with Bioware before the server patches. We don't want to have to rebuild our spellcasters.... again!

Ah....now as to the update.....will it ever be added?and perhaps when?would be nice i think to know,i mean i doubt there will be any new players w/o it and further shrinkage perhaps as well as, perish the thought, some might want to play on more than one server w/o constantly adding and extracting the patch, as with all the haks in some hak files it could lead to corruption of the program and the need to reinstall *gasps at the thought of downloading portraits and CEP and a myriad of other things to load on base game*so just thought id ask........................................................*light s torch and holds it to feet*

As has been said more than once, in order to effectivley patch and run the server we need a CEP update - unfortunately this fact hasn't, and won't, change.

We want to patch, but we can't do so until everything is in place to enable us to do so effectively.

Funnily enough since the NWN update we've actually had a noticeable increase in average server population rather than a decrease, so it isn't holding us back that much.

Because the CEP update isn't out yet - simple as.

Erm... CEP v1.53 was released (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Hakpaks.Detail&id=6716) about ten days ago, featuring NWN 1.67 support.

Increase? As far as I know we're losing more and more people. The most I saw yesterday (a saturday) was 5. I hope this isn't a sign of smething wrong going on :( .

Exam time...

Last few times I've logged on in the past week or so I've seen the server population go up to around 20, however it is indeed exam time of year. And population always drops at this time of year as summer approaches and people have exams, holidays amd the like.

Yup, and so is the server unfortunatley. Unpatched Mods are now down to about 5% on the rp listings. I have also observed the drop in players that several other people on this thread have mentioned. While it is possible to patch and unpatch I wonder how many people who play on other mods will bother, when its easier to just patch and play on another mod until this one updates. Personally I choose Merpuk, but my concern is for those that don't.

As mentioned before the drop in population is very common around this time of year as other commitments come to the fore - although the server being unpatched probably won't help. However it's not as straightforward as 'download the patches and apply them to the serevr'. As Av has mentioned, or rather stated in the first thread, as well as the patches being available, the PRC needs to be tested with the patch and then updated/edited to avoid conflicts - as a fair number of players do have our PRC classes we want the game to be playable to all. Unpatched it is accessible and playable by all - yes it may mean constantly patching/unpatching, but it is still there. If we update and it clashes with the PRC there will be people who's characters are unplayable.

Personally I'll stay unpatched - what with work, MERP content and social/relationship commitments I don't get to play as often as may be ideal anyway - I certainly don't have time to play on more than one server - so I'll stick with the one I love.

Right, the server is set to patch soon, and you will be expected to have CEP 1.53 and the MERPrc v1.4 which can be found here: http://www.silverswords.co.uk/merprcv14.zip

So no more complaining :)
