The new Player Manual is now online and available for download.

We strongly recommend that everyone reads through the document and keeps it close to hand. It contains a lot of useful articles.

The recently voted policies and code of conduct are included and now take effect with the release of the manual. The ingame code of conduct information will be updated shortly.

The manual can be found here:

I read the Player Manual, and just had one question...

It mentions about Orc PvP that players should give orcs a chance out of PvP when they encounter them on the road and wish to fight. However, it also says that players should automatically attack orcs in "civilised areas" (e.g. Tharbad), as orcs have taken the chance of being spotted in a city.

To me, that seems kind of contraversal. I know I would be pretty mad if I had an orc passing through Tharbad and suddenly got shot by six fire arrows without warning. Perhaps players should yell or shout at the orc, or call to the guards to give orcs warning ahead of time to run out of the city?

Just a thought.

From the manual...

7.5.2 Class Choices

The following are recommended:

FIGHTER — A fine choice for Orcs, as the vast majority are a (somewhat) trained
army.

BARBARIAN - Often the best choice, with many of the feats and abilities of this
class representing the Orc well.

OLOG HAI —Both recommended Orc classes lead to this prestige class, which is
EXCLUSIVE to Orcs.

Until UTT3 when "Troll" is (hopefully) included as a prestige race, you might want to make this bit a little clearer if the official server stance is to RP a troll right from the outset with the default half-orc skin as opposed to a racial transformation from orc to troll when taking on Olog Hai levels. Although most of us are well aware of the fact that trolls/ ologs vs orcs/ uruks are completely different species, new players unfamiliar to Middle Earth lore might not.

Also, unless I've missed it completely which is not unlikely, I can't seem to find a section on the prestige classes.

Just a quick word about the issue Silverleaf mentioned above. The paragraph pointed out has indeed slipped through the proof reading. We intend to change the wording of it. Until that is done please DO NOT take that paragraph as overriding the ROSE PvP rules and of course orcs and such ilk should still, as far as is reasonably possible, avoid civilised areas. If orcs do have to pass through such areas I suggest they do so quickly and without lingering.
