View Full Version : New Server is Live!

The server has now live on the new machine and network! :)

The performance is much better, an example being worldsaves which are now only taking 6 seconds, which is just slightly quicker than the 35 seconds on the old server. The combination of new machine and network should also easily solve the lag issues that have been reported lately. ;)

To connect to the new server, you'll need to update your Login.CFG with the new IP address of 194.154.191.4:2593 You can click here (ftp://ftp.wireplay.co.uk/pub/ultimaonline/patches/login.cfg) [Alt. Link (http://ftp.wireplay.co.uk/pub/ultimaonline/patches/login.cfg)] to download the updated Login.CFG, which should be placed in your Ultima Online folder. The full patch installers are also updated with the new server address.

Along with the upgrade, there are also some updates to the rules, scripts and staff. Here are the details:

Rules
The update to the rules is to make some of the rules easier to understand, and to remove some rules that no longer apply. Please make sure that you read the updated rules page (http://uo.wireplay.co.uk/index.php?p=rules) as soon as possible.

Important changes are:

Staff can no longer change a player's name for 200,000 gold. (There is an option to do this yourself through the profile menu)
House and Vendor placement rules are no longer found on the rules page. Instead a link to the House (http://uo.wireplay.co.uk/index.php?p=viewarticle&id=26) and Vendor (http://uo.wireplay.co.uk/index.php?p=viewarticle&id=53) placement articles is provided.
Razor has been added to the list of allowed macroing programs. This program is an alternative to UOAssist that also contains many more features such as screenshot and video recording utilities, and will work with the latest clients (but doesn't work with older clients, ie. 2.0.3). You can download it from it's website here (http://razor.runuo.com), and look at an overview of it's features here (http://razor.runuo.com/guide.php?tab=general).

Some other changes include the removal of rules that are no longer possible to break or are repeated in the staff rules page, and rewording of some rules to make them clearer.

Staff
Inactive/Vanished staff have been removed from the contacts page. This means that Nitty, SubZero and Zareck are no longer staff and have moved on to other things in life.

Scripts
Some script updates have been implemented on the server: Added confirmation menu for guild resignation.
Healing and Meditation skill attempts will now complete 25% faster if you're going to fail.
NPCs should now stop insisting on attacking certain player vendors.
Mage vendors will now buy any spell scrolls off players, regardless of whether the vendor was selling them or not.
Tents will now decay over time just like houses. Walking in and out of the tent will renew the remaining time. The spoken command "I wish to renew this tent" can be used by owners to renew the decay time and non-owners to view the remaining time.
Client 6.0.0 can now connect to the server.

We have also updated to the latest Sphere build, which offers the following fixes: Skills sometimes being impossible to gain after a server restart.
Tooltips on newer clients showing player names in yellow instead of red/blue/gray/green/orange.
ConnectUO sometimes showing that there are 0 clients connected.
Explosion potions sometimes not exploding.

Voting
As you may or may not have been aware of, our account on the Top200 voting site appears to have been suspended for unknown reasons, and the staff there have still not responded to any e-mails that I have sent.

I have now signed us up to four more voting sites (and there should be a fifth one once their registration page is fixed), so if people could please vote for us on all voting sites then that would be great. :D

The voting links as usual can be found on the Voting Page (http://uo.wireplay.co.uk/?p=vote) (maybe you should err, test all of the voting links out.. now! Every other day too! :P).

We're also planning a "New Server" party to be held within the next few weeks. More details to come. :)

:rave: <-- Not ingame footage :P

If you'd like me to make some replacement buttons for your new voting sites, just say the word. It'll take but a few minutes.

Just like to say that MrSugarCube has done a fine job with the server move and relaunch of UO at Wireplay. He's really put the hours in on this so I hope you all get behind him and turn Lothlorien into the success it deserves to be :)

Happy gaming

Thanks Kev, the move has gone quite well and everyone that I've seen ingame so far has reported that the server's now free of lag :D. The only complaint that I have is that the server's desktop theme isn't pink... but that can be changed... :P

Two of the voting buttons use dynamic images to show our server rank so it's probably nicer to leave them all as they are, but thanks for the offer. :)

guess i really am an over the top votaholic because i have noticed the following:

Toplistgames.com not only does the live time ticker on the button not work, but they also are lieing about the fact that you can vote once per 24hr period.
me, being a person who votes from work voted on saturday, and now coming back into work on tuesday, i go to vote on thier site and i get the disclaimer "You can only vote once per 24hrs" and it promptly disallows me to vote.
i voted on saturday sooo 24hrs to sunday plus 24hrs to monday plus 24hrs til tuesday equals 72hrs since last vote from my work location yet still no ablity to vote.

Ive noticed that as well, The last 3 or so times ive tried to vote they have turned me away citing the 24 hour rule despite a longer period of time betwix vote attempts.

I've noticed a couple of times that Toplistgames.com seems to think I've already voted when I don't think I have, but when I've specifically made sure I haven't then the votes have been going through - the button appears to be accurate too.

Looking at their forums, there's a thread here (http://www.toplistgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51) where people are having the same problem, apparently they've been looking into the problem for months now so I wouldn't expect anything to happen in the near future :P

here is something interesting. On the gamesitestop100 we are winning in votes, but we are at the bottom of the list. thats quite an interesting event now isnt it?

actually i think you need to look a bit closer keb, if you notice there is Votes and Total votes. we may be winning in votes, but we most certainly are not winning in total votes.

and on the button it says that we are ranked number 5. but when i look at their site we are higher than 25th ranking.

Kebnov

actually phate, i believe you need to look at it more closely. I was talking about gamesitestop100 not TopListgames, which does not have a list of total, only and In and Out. :P

And no matter which they chose to rank us by, we are still highest on gamesitestop100.

Shouldn't we start getting OnTopic and start saying how good it is to make me jealous?
