Allright, i think most a of mind tower shiedls look horrible for large part. How about we make +1 better large shields sold in best shops, so ac would equal the tower shield one. Might be expensive, but dont feel it would unbalance anything, large shield has allready so large penalties that it prevents any activity which tower shield would too.

It is just that large shield designs have so many cooler designs, both for knight like characters as for more barbarian like look.

Only good tower shields are heraldic ones and the one celtic like.

Expert Large Shields can be found in loot drops. I like their uniqueness in fact, as those who own expert large shields have a certain higher appearance quality over others. :)

The thing about customizable item designs, when it comes to shields, the enchantment on them should be no consideration in what they can be modded to. The shield is the walking billboard of a knight, or other type that wields them. A new shield, regardless of what power it is, would at the very least be painted or have a cloth/leather cover put over it, with the emblem that represented the user. So, if for some reason, there are better choices of designs for higher level shields, that is wrong in my opinion.

But, I can see the reason to keep expert large shields rare. My solution would be to see if Tower shields, could have more variety added, into what they could be customized to look like. It seems that with a larger area to work with compared to a large shield, there would be even more designs available to choose from.

There are Masterwork Large Shields quite readily available for players to purchase, the only problem is that you lose +1 AC compared to using a tower shield. It all depends on what you want more: AC or Appearance.

I fail to see why they should be opposed to each others.

Because that's how the shields differ, a tower shield is larger and more cumbersome, but gives better protecion. - one problem is that in DnD 3.5 a tower shield wuite rightly gives more AC (It is much larger after all) but reduces AB. This isn't true of NWN1 (I think) which is based on DnD 3.

HOwever I feel there are some quite good tower shield appearances available, but that's just me.
