View Full Version : Event Night
Next Saturday (27th October) at 8pm BST the staff will be running 2 events for the players to take part in, these events will be different from normal in that if enough players attend there will be alternative prizes given out rather than event tickets.
8pm is the starting time, a maximum of 15 minutes will be given after this time for players to logon and prepare for the event, however this is a maximum and it is possible that the events will start before then, so please try to be online at 8pm.
All details about which events are being run and what the prizes are will be announced at the time.
If this is successful then it may be the first in a series of such nights that the staff will run.
If you could post to say you plan to attend then it would help us size up player interest and so make sure we plan the right size events.

Kebnov, i didn't mean that he is an admin again, i meant that he made his first post in announcements/the site since he left as admin... :p
Why did i put Obaymi? O well, i meant Forest Fire.
Only 5 or 6 people joining?
Hopefully we'll have some people show up on the night that either didn't know about this in advance, or didn't feel like posting :P

What i mean Zee, if you didnt get my joke...
In the begning of Full Metal Alchemist, when their mother dies, they try to bring her back from the dead... in doing so one loses an arm and leg, the other one loses his body... doing that spell thing is considerd the greatest sin of all in the equal exchange plot line which FMA is based on...
So yeah it was a nerd joke...
So you've seen it too!
Great isn't it. :D

Balron Dodge Champion and second place in FFA :D
Well as all who attended know there were some problems, one of the main ones being that the hostage rescue arena decided not to work, we'll be looking into that :)
On the player side, if players could please decide in advance if they're going to attend or not, that would help solve a lot of the problems we had trying to decide what event to run with players leaving/joining/leaving again.
Any feedback from players is of course welcome and hopefully if/when we run something like this again then we'll be able to do better :)
Just do what people have been asking for, events every day or two. There was nothing to warrant this being a special 'event night' it was just 2 normal events that are already set up anyway.
I r with Adren. If there would of been more events, and not just the ones that are most common, i guess it would of been good. :P A let down i gotta say...
I still need the perfect thing to give sheela. >.<

To answer the comments from adren+zee.
First the number of events, yes in hindsight I think it would have been better if there were more events, however considering the problems we had getting just 2 events run I think it would have been a lot worse if on this occasion there had been more events run, maybe if this becomes a regular thing then there would be 4 or more events run.
Secondly the type of events, there were several reasons for using "standard events"
1. The fact that a couple of arenas suddenly felt like dying on us meant that some of the events I had planned needed to be cancelled and it seemed as if the players that were there were starting to get frustrated at the lack of action, so we had to fall back to the "standard" event types.
2. I underestimated the indecisive nature of the playerbase, I had assumed that we would have <x> number of players turn up and we could start straight away, instead we had a very fluctuating number of players and so it was difficult to get an exact number and so plan which events would be run.
3. While we had a relativly good turnout (8 players in the end) it wasn't quite enough for the larger events I had wanted to run and so we had to stick with more common events instead.
4. When I had been talking with some players before the event there had been a feeling that players would like at least "some" of the events run to be normal ones like mining/balron dodge/etc rather than all being bigger/more unusual events.
Again, lessons have been learned from how this turned out and so if/when it is run again we will hopefully have a smoother evening and also a "better" experience for players.
