View Full Version : Measures Taken Against Increasing Crime Rate

Officials have noted that a recent crime wave has hit the streets of major towns. Whilst guards insist that the situation is under control, very little has been done to address the issue of bandits who have been attacking merchants as they travel between markets. As a result, it has become too risky for most merchants to leave their stores and less trade is taking place between towns.

Today, Guard Oliver of Britain has come up with a new measure to combat this issue. He is now placing bounties on criminals, granting rewards for those who can seek out the law breakers and put an end to their activities.

Any who wish to assist Oliver in protecting the trade routes should consult him to receive a contract.

To view the list of bounties, access the Bounty Stone at Britain Bank and select the new "View Job Board" option.

To clarify, this announcement introduces a new extension to the bounty system where you can accept jobs to hunt down bandits around the outskirts of towns and receive payment for doing so :). To access it, visit your local bounty stone and select the "Access Job Board" option (as mentioned above, this is currently only available in Britain). You will be presented with a list of available jobs, along with the amount of gold you would receive upon successful completion of them. Upon selecting a job to take on, you will be given coordinates which you can use to find your target(s).

There are currently three different types of job available:
Kill Group - Objective: Defeat a group of bandits
Assassinate Leader - Objective: Defeat the leader of a group of bandits
Recover Loot - Objective: Defeat the leader of a group of bandits, and then return his loot to the bounty stone
It is possible to "fail" a job. Upon failure you simply lose the job and won't receive the reward for completing it. A job can be failed by:

Selecting the "Abandon Current Job" option on the job board.
Logging out any time before the job is complete.
Retreating from the area where your target is (note: you can take as long as you wish to reach the target area, but once you're there you cannot leave).
Die after reaching the target area (note: again you can die on the way to the target area, but once you've arrived there you must stay alive)
You should check the difficulty level of a job before accepting it. The level of a job affects the number and strength of the bandits that will be waiting for you (with higher levels being more and stronger bandits). Higher level jobs also pay out more and there's also a higher chance that the bandit leader (if there is one) may be carrying a rare weapon. :)

The jobs board will periodically "respawn" and generate a new random selection of jobs, so if there are none or there aren't any you want to take on then you may wish to wait a while for a different selection.

WOW, I really like this idea! sounds like it could be a lot of fun!

what might be a nice expansion to this might be extending from the original bounty system, and having the 'assassinate leader' function of the bounty stone to be able to be set to guild leaders.

dunno, cant wait to try this new thing out!
