Help?

Hi ... I would say I'm new but I ain't really played yet. This server was recomended to me but after installing the hak pak provided in the official website I still could not get in ... Apparantly I still need a custom talk table (Ors5_CEP21c.talk) however this has me a little confused and also unable to play ... So I was wondering if perhaps someone could give me a hand? So lost :plasma:

Hello Mr. Craigums and welcome to our server. It is really nice to see you around.

It seems this file is related with CEP 2.1, thou I never heart of such a file. What OS are you using? Please make sure that you correctly installed CEP 2.1 (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=hakpaks.detail&id=7478).
If you like you can also pop up in IRC then I am maybe better able to help you.

Definately a possibility ... I installed 2.1 when it first came out so maybe they added a couple of new things since then ... I'll re-install and tell you how it goes. Also I will have to admit my ignorance to "OS"

Indeed! They changed a couple of things, since there were some bugs concerning the new DLA horses. It current version is markes with c.

Just take a look at your Neverwinter Nights directory. There has to be a folder named "hak" and "tlk". Just check if you -do- have the files listed above in the corresponding folders.

Hmm I seem to have the two listed in the tlk folder but also an extra called CEP 2_ tlk ... Reckon this is the prob?

Maybe, but I cannot say for sure. Just try and remove that file somewhere else temporarily (e.g. desktop) and try to connect to the server.

Right typed it in google and the only result I got was this thread ... *Coughs* ... And as to the vault ... No result. This is weird ...

I really think someone does not want me playing this server lol.

Right last thing I can think of ... And this would be a real big favour (Also meaning no one has to do it if they don't want to) ... But if someone could search their whole nwn directory for even an inkling of the file "Ors5_cep21c.tlk" Then I can be sure it DOES exist and the game does NOT hate me ... Then perhaps we can work out some manner of copying sending it =) ... I know this is alot to ask ... But frankly I'm out of idea's

I'm working at the moment - but I recently changed machines and got things working okay, I'll take a look at my folders when I get home tonight if no-one else has been able to do so first.

Thank you =) I appreciate all the trouble everyone is going to for some random new dude like me, Been quite excited by this server from what a friend has told me ... SO of course would like to play =)

This is very strange. I don't thinkk there is such a file. The only thing I can reccommend, but this is as a last resort, is to install a duplicate clean copy of NWN, with both exanpsion packs (Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark), update them to 1.69 either using the in-game prompts or the NWN updater (which is in the same folder as your NWN.exe if you're running windows), and then install CEP 2.1, all required haks and tlks as Eonwe listed above.

If it still does not work then your game is telling you porkie pies, I'm afraid, because you should have everything that you need there. All of this is a major pain in the backside to do though, so I'd wait a bit and see if any of our local computer-brains have any smart ideas before you resort to it.

Yep, I would suggest to do so too. Re-install Neverwinter Nights and get a clean version. The problem is, that our server does not need such a file and therefor that cannot be the problem. Furthermore, I never heart of that file, but the "Osr.." reminds me of Ossidian Studios that released Darkness over Daggerford. But NO clue why this pops up, when you try to connect to our server.

Well I've just got in and checked and I have no such file in my tlk folder and am able to log into the server without any problems.

All is not lost! I found my Hoardes of the underdark disc (Stuffed down the back of my desk *Cough*) And am currently re-installing ... Also ... Can someone tell me where I put the CEP head set? I can't quite remember which file.

ORS5 is Olander's Realistic System v5 (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Scripts.Detail&id=2605). However, to the best of my knowledge, we do not, and never did, have that on our server. A wild guess would be that you have installed something in your NWN "override" folder that requires it, but I can't be sure what it would be.

Another wild idea... what is the name of the server and module in the server list when you're trying to connect to it? Both should mention "Untold Tales of Tolkien" in them somewhere. If they don't, you're probably just connecting to a wrong server (there are quite a few LotR NWN worlds out there, and at least one other also uses "MERP" in the title, so there is some possibility for confusion).

The one I went on was simply Called Middle earth role play And then the same again with no mention of Tolkien ... Perhaps someone could put the direct connect IP? ust to be sure I'm after the right one
