View Full Version : If I had three wishes...
What would they be?
Obviously UTT series related and something we could realisticly do.
Shout loudly enough and the Valar may hear you...

1)
I hope to encounter more monsters that can be disarmed. Old ones are just as fine also, if those could be convinced not to apply that power glue on the hilts of their weaponry. Could the fix be some sort of toggle on monster properties perhaps? At the moment some breeds of orcs; Zombies; pale, brainless dwarves (which name I don't remember) of Silverdelve and some NPCs & opponents with custom weaponry can be disarmed, no others. Except PCs most likely...!
2)
I hope to see lots less "vampires" on the server as those are described as very rare creatures that Morgoth used as messengers during ancient times. Renaming them to something else would be awesome.
3)
This might be a stretch, but I hope to see some custom spells and or ablilities that would be tied to certain races. Or even better, tied to certain subraces. That could enable real differences between different clans & cultures of elves, humans and hobbits. Perhaps some differences with dwarves, orcs & goblins aswell.
I can elaborate lots more if so desired! ;)
Excellent thread.

I need to think about my three wishes (nice idea!) but I like what Milou said about giving some of the (sub)races on the server more of a distinctive feel - and perhaps through some more unusual PrC's the classes too. Variety is the spice of life.

I like the idea of racial spells and abilities also, could something akin to custom clerical domains be put together that could be chosen on character creation?
I'd like to see some shorter quests for higher level characters - the current ones (that I've seen) are great, but can take a looong time to do. Something that could be the 15th level equivalent of rescuing the baby from the troll for example, that gives a challenging scrap, something to hang some rp on and a couple of hundred xp all done in an hour would be good to go and do every so often and give those with limited playing time at least a feeling of character advancement. Slow is better than stop after all.
Some sort of automatic xp rewarder for rp conversations would be nice too, so some small reward is available for all those times you sit chewing the fat in Rivendell and there's no DM watching.
Some adverse efects of bad weather too, to make the outdoors seem a bit wilder.
Might think of some more, if we're allowed more than 3!
Thanks for your ideas. Lets hear more!

More than anything else it is living, loving (and sometimes fighting) with the characters of the other players here that I value most. And what I long for right now is to be immersed in a new series of high quality campaigns (perhaps featuring new areas, people and items from Tolkien lore) that give me the opportunity to develop the personality of my characters by role playing with them.
Campaigns that have a lasting effect on the world around us and where our actions influence the outcome(s). I want to feel I have told a tale with the other players and DM's that will live on in the lore of Arda.
Easily said, hard to deliver I know. But you did ask ;)
I think that accounts for all three of my wishes :)
We'd better get busy then! On the campaigns (scripted side), i've just sent the Forochel campaign off to be imported to the module. It should be online within the next couple of days.

Wish I'd taken that extra wishing feat. Oh. Wait--that's not one of my real wishes. Rats.
1) Quest dialogues that take into account nationality and/or race/subrace. Assumed by questgiver in most dialogues that questtaker is a foreigner, and resulting dialogue can be off-putting. Example: Rohirrim and Edoras quests.
2) Quests oriented toward specific classes, races, subraces, nationalities. For example, rogue-oriented quests, Rohirrim mounted combat quests, etc.
3) More DM events and interaction, because the DMs are fabulous. Especially, if possible, to organize events geared toward participant characters' development. For example, a quest to gather components for a crafter to make a unique armor/weapon, or to find training for a character in a specific field, or to resolve some personal or family problem a character has.
Is that three already?
Cheers.

Im working on it.

Your absoloutely right about quest dialogues. Some of the more recent quests i've made (forochel in particular, you will notice) have NPCs with a more distinctive personality...they become more than just "the quest giver" to your character. But they do lack the ability to identify their own kin. This is something I want to spread and include as a standard feature of quest dialogue. So King Theoden will recognise, say, the Rider of Rohan PRC, or those who hail from Rohan. This can ideally be achieved through use of databases (look at Eonwe for a nod) or through better use of our token system. Though I worry we have too many tokens in inventories already.
Specialised quests - Something we really need to do. Firstly there is a great need to get the general access high level quests added, as im sure you'll agree.

I know they might be on the radar somewhere but player housing and persistent storage would be great additions to the world.

Throwing these in as they occur to me: a little more randomisation of the spawns would be fun. After a while you get to anticipate certain encounters (the spiders in Mirkwood are a good example).
Using one of the more modern spawn/waypoint systems it would be relatively easy to add much more variation in location and difficulty of the things we encounter while travelling. Some days you get lucky and meet a wandering Rohirrim patrol that escorts you to your destination, another day (in a different place) Orcs are waiting. It could be an isolated Orc or a war party complete with cave troll.

This thread is temporarily closed for the time being, as our Development team already has a lot to catch up on their To Do List. Once the current projects and issues are better under control, we will again solicit more suggestions from the player base. Until then, we do not wish to build expectations that current requests are going to be handled immediately.
Bug Reports and problems that can be dealt with by DM's are still of course welcome.
*hugs* Morgy
