View Full Version : Sensor Phalanx
i now have a Sensor Phalanx on my moon, but i can not for the life of me see any way at all on how to actually use it to scan. Please could someone tell me how to, as it's either not working, or i can't find the button to click (i see nothing extra on the galaxy view to enable me to scan)
ok, i have 1 field free (4/5 fields) and it won't let me upgrade anything, even though i refresh (countless times) and i have enough res to build anything possible on my moon.
i'm starting to think moons are bugged and basically useless on Starwire :/

Starwire is bugged and basically useless :P
dont worry i continue to slave over this and the new version, although with the recent wave of bugs, im starting to wonder if this current game it worth putting time into
dunno what went wrong here, but because i was being attacked, i put myself into vacation mode, and maybe didn't realise that this effected my moon also. however, this is understandable because from my moon, i was allowed to send out recyclers and the rest of my fleet to partake on missions etc, collecting almost 1mil worth of res... pretty handy for vaction mode :D
Anyway, the construction and such is working now, as well as deconstruction.
i am now upping the level of my phalanx, because level 1 reads as 0 scope sensors, which is very strange tbh, but maybe this is why it doesn't work?? and i will see what happens when my phalanx finishes building in 15 hours :D
oh btw, if you want an idea and such for another game to build up, if you ever decide to call it quits on starwire, i have a few ideas of my own for a game i used to play a few years back but is now closed down. it was a popular game back in the day and not come across another like it, so some bits you may need to start from scratch, but heh, if you ever fancy the challenge of making it, i can give you the guidelines for making it, plus a community willing to play it besides wireplay, as my old community (Dragonball Source HL2 mod) still has interest in playing the old game ;)
ok, i found out how to do a scan now, though it isn't that obvious imo.
basically you hover the mouse over the planet icon in the galaxy view, and phalanx is an option there. you can't scan whole systems as i was led to believe, however you can scan planets individually.
now here's the problems with it....
1) scanning a planet gives no information at all apart from....
"Last maneuvers on the Planet"
... nothing else, no reports on defence, res or whatever. no information on the planet at all, it's not even working about the fleets properly, because i have scanned ppl i know who have done something with their fleet recently, and it hasn't given any info at all :(
2) if your less than 20k deut, it says you don't have enough fuel to do a scan, but when you do have enough res, it doesn't actually cost anything to do the scan, so you can keep scanning to your hearts desire.
the number of scope sensors per level perhaps needs increasing by 1 at the very least, because that number is the range on systems you can scan, and level 1 has zero range, can't even scan your own system, which tbh, in itself, that seems pointless. it would actually take you 4 days after getting a moon to have it operational, assuming you came online immediatly after everything had finished building in order to set the next thing going.
added to the above post, heres some more stuff wrong with phalanx :D
1) i got ned to move something on his planet so i was sure it was registering correctly and heres what it told me... "[::] ()" ... dunno what thats supposed to say, but it's not displaying whats happening on his planet.
2) if i go to the galaxy view, hover over a planet icon, i can click "Phalanx". This doesn't cost any res to do it but i must have 20k duet or more, plus i have a range of systems based on what the phalanx level it, HOWEVER, if i click on the planets name and ignore the planet icon completely, i can scan any planet anywhere, regardless of phalanx level, system, or even galaxy.... not that i can get any results from it mind you ;)
