dunno if this is the cause of the bug, but i've noticed it a couple of times and just thought nothing of it really, but here's the problem....
My score = 1000 (approx)
sent my fleet out on an attack and mere seconds after they go out....
my score = 800 (approx)
therefore it appears that if you send your fleet out, be it in transport or whatever, you lose the point value that they are worth and it assumes that they were destroyed... until they return that is, and they bump your points back up.
Now this can be exploited loads tbh... well it would be exploited if loads of people were playing because you could regularly check point values of player to see a shift in points up or down, this would tell you if a fleet is at home or away... if away, a weaker player will no longer be in n00b protection to that player. Now the door swings both ways.... a weaker player can attack a massively stronger player, and would probably win against colonys, then they slip nicely back into n00b protection when their fleet is launched, but the attack still happens, and they get the rewards.... on the flip side, a strong player can get a tip off about a player in n00b protection with loadsa res or whatever, and then launch a random fleet to drop their own points, allowing a smaller force to rape the weaker player no longer in n00b protection, once the attack is done, the weaker player is weaker and the stronger player has more res and quietly slips back into being a stronger player mode.
