The 'Survival Pack' downloadable content for Valve's cooperative zombie thriller Left 4 Dead will be released on April 21, Microsoft has confirmed.

Valve's zombie shooter is expanding for the first time with the upcoming 'Survival Pack', which will add a new Survival mode where players attempt to survive endless hordes of zombies on at least 12 maps, and allow the Dead Air and Death Toll campaigns to be played in the multiplayer Versus mode.

Valve has previously confirmed that the add-on pack will be available free of charge for both PC and Xbox 360 gamers, hopefully simultaneously. A Critic's Choice Edition of the game will hit retail stores at the same time, offering the original game plus access to all the content introduced in the Survival Pack.

Also, the Software Development Kit (SDK) for the game is expected this spring as well, allowing players to create their own custom content, campaigns and levels for the game.

its confirmed by valve to be free, infact i believe they confirmed ALL DCL content they produce will be free.

bit late replying to the original post, but why did you post something that stated it was confirmed by Microsoft, and not Valve?

anyway, the 21st is tomorrow... lets see if valve do infact release on time for once :D

tbh, looking forward to this, because this release doesn't just mean L4D updates, it also means other stuff like Garrys Mod and Obsidian Conflict will start adding support for L4D :D

Because Microsoft say when stuff is to be released on Xbox live, and Valve have previously stated that updates for the 360 and the PC will be at the same time.

amazon also say when stuff is to be released, but if the software company changes their mind, then their info isn't trust worthy, and in this case, microsoft know as much as amazon would. they are only saying stuff to get sales, not to get the game out on time

X360 update was out in the early hours of this morning, PC to follow ~+- 9hrs after as includes sdk and matchmaking version 2.0.

Its defiantly today
