Firstly, cheers velvet :)
Secondly, welcome to the Allegiance board. TK421, WPS and Dusk are currently fiddling about trying to get the Wireplay Allegiance server set up and I'm sure they'll be along to keep us up to date, won't you my lovelies...
In the mean time we may aswell use this forum to find out who of our masses actually plays Allegiance and see if we can't get a few games together.
Thirdly, if anyone doesn't know what allegiance is.. then I'll put up some pointers.
Allegiance is a space combat based team game. Set in the nearish future after mankind has buggered off into the stars and the earth has been conveniantly destroyed. The idea of the game is a cross between you X-wing style space fighting, your C&C style RTS, and your TFC style team play.
The basics are that in each game you have a number of worm-hole (aleph) linked sectors, each of these sectors containing asteroids, some of these asteroids can be used for mining minerals the others for building space stations on. The basic objective is to destroy all the opposing forces stations.
Unsurprisingly there are many different classes of craft for you to fly, rom the nippy and well visioned scout, to the dog fighting menacing interceptor, thru the base busting bomber to the truly impressive cruiser class craft.
Obtaining of new ships and new technology is obtained through research and the building of new stations. And this is where the (arguably) most important role comes in. That off the Comander/Investor. The commander has the ability to sit in base and view the map like a C&C comander would and is responsable for ordering about the AI controled miners and constructors to gain cash and new bases for the team. The commander generally also recieves all the money from the team and uses it to pay for new research and craft.
As should be obvious from the above description, team play is what makes this game, and a team that plays well and cohesively can utterly crush a team with superior numbers/skill that does not operate well together.
I'll stop rabbiting on now, if only because my boss wants me to do some work.
So here are some links for you to find out more.
