Wot rate for a 56ker

My rate for cs is currently set at 3500, do I need to change it to around 5000?
Will this reduce my ping?

No rate does not affect ur ping, unless its waaay too high or waaay, too low. What it does affect is ur packet loss/ choke. I am on 56k BT anytime and I have mine set at 4400 which on some of the newer maps such as de_torn has gone as high as 6500. U change rate in game by typing rate xxxx where xxxx is the number. U can find out ur rate in the console by just typing rate.

Look at the little display this shows; if it says choke is happening (ie, it isnt 0) try increasing the rate a bit. If loss is happening, decrease the rate a bit.

Sometimes both happen when ur conny's a bit fluffed. Just try and find the best compromise. Remember if u increase ur rate and u start to lag, decrease it!
