    CS1.4 has killed my ping!!!!!

    okay guys, it aint often that I ask for advice from you simple folk. But this recent problem has really frustrated me!!!!!

    My average ping ( pre1.4 ) was between 15-40.

    Now since the introduction of the mod from hell, my average ping has stabilized between 60 and 90, although i am often spiking into the mid 100's.

    Ive changed my config from the base install, as before i did this, my average ping was 400

    i use cable modem, although im beginning to think i may change to 56k if my ping keeps jumping

    please feel free to offer your pearls of wisdom in the space provided below

    1) Try tweaking your rate, cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate's
    2) Try going on a nother server (non-WP) and see if its lower anyway
    3) You suck

    lol! brimster, you want a cable modem uncapper! ive got two of em, all you do is run them, and it take your limit off! i put it on my adsl, and it gave me bout an extra 10k/sec downloading of websites, and lowered my ping by bout 10 aswell!

    This is for Windows 2000 / XP:

    Add this to a .reg file and load it:

    Code:
    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]
    "GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize"=dword:00007fff
    Gives me 90-100K/sec on NTL 512K cable service

    That's not a uncapper, that's merely a registry setting.

    You should also adjust your other thingy to 1500. Words MCI come to mind, but I fail to remember as I haven't reinstalled this year so I haven't had to change any settings this year....
