    Rhyll Arndry
Looking at Rhyll, there isn't much to distinguish him from the other men of the Chetwood and Bree. He is of average height, standing just under six feet tall, with raven black hair and a well-manicured goatee and moustache. A smile is never far from his lips and a mischievous sparkle gleams in his hazel eyes.

His father now runs a homestead in the Chetwood a days easy walk north of Archet. In his younger days Rhyll's father served as hired-help to various merchants trading between Eriador and Esgaroth on the Long Lake, at which time he learned how to keep himself safe in dangerous situations - a trait he has tried to pass on to his only son. Rhyll was an apt pupil in most areas, but he has yet to live up to his father's expectations.

Rhyll's mother also lives on the homestead and in many ways he takes after her more then he does his father. She is the one who ensured he spent time seeking beyond the worldly needs of survival and to see the mysteries hidden in the world. From her he got his burning wanderlust and need to see and experience the world in a way that his father simply finds odd.

After much pleading and coercion, his father finally gave Rhyll his blessing to leave the homestead and find his own way in the world, and so Rhyll now comes to Bree and the Shire, as the closest populated lands to his home, to seek his fortune.

    Right they are both up....

To all concerned may i draw yer attention to information on yonder thread that was the original character bios one, for the posting thereof, thankee sah *salutes*

    http://forums.wireplay.co.uk/showthr...5&pagenumber=3

makes it simpler if they all go in the same place then i wont overlook anything.

and just a reminder - there is info there about how id like the screencaps to be done, format, size and such, so as i can use em to make the wee portraits in photoshop to go with the bio.

You'll have to either get it uploaded to somewhere and provide the link, or the easiest way is probably to email it to Olorin.

    [QUOTE=DM_Olórin]http://forums.wireplay.co.uk/showthr...5&pagenumber=3
    /QUOTE]

I took the referenced link to be the thread for bios that are ready for posting to the website and not necessarily where all new bios should be placed. From the "New Website Character Biographies" thread:

    - The biography must be true (has happened ingame)
This implied to me that the bios that would be posted to the website were not just any and all bios that came along, but those selected as being part of the in-game adventures. I figured then that this thread was the right place to post bios of new, unestablished characters for the rest of the community before eventually being moved to the website itsef.

But then maybe I am assuming too detailed of a process for this type of thing. It doesn't really matter to me either way, but since Olorin has made multiple posts about the right location for bios maybe we should reduce the possible threads for posting bios down to one if they are all supposed to go in the same place.

    oops
New Website Character Biographies - Wireplay Community Forums

thats the thread with all the relevant info in....
tbh i dont really mind if they are posted in here or in there
Stormbringer started this one because the original had slipped down the forum due to a period of inactivity, but i tend to have to remind people about the portraits

As for bios having to be true, all it really means is dont go making up epic adventures that they cant possibly have had in UTT2
A little pre-game background is absolutely fine. But if you include significant events, from ingame experiences, they need to have happened to your character. Such things as close friends your character has made are ideal fodder, great lords he/she has served. That sort of thing, but its up to you...

Dont worry about it so long as no one claims to be bestest mates with any major NPCs or heir to any thrones etc

Works for me. I'll get you a picture as soon as I can, but that probably won't be until late next week some time. Damn RL obligations.

    Fënowe son of Fënwe

A Nephew of Celebrimbor and half-brother of Finculin (“hair of golden-red”), Fënowe also inherited some traits from the house of Finarfin. His blonde hair clearly indicates that. He is a tall (6’7”) and strong built Noldo (due to long years passed on the forges in Ost-in-Edhil) and his piercing eyes are of a blue-violet.

Fënowe’s attitudes typify the Noldor in many ways, especially in curiosity and arrogance. Like his half-brother he was born in the days of Ost-in-Edhil and spent most of his time on the forges of the Gwaith-i-Mírdain. Fënowe was knowledgeable in the ways of many forges and was considered by the Mírdain a talentous and promised craftsman (being in the early of his apprenticeship instructed by Celebrimbor himself).

Fënowe still wants to become a Master Smith, being one of the few representatives of the Gwaith-i-Mírdain in Middle-Earth. As a craftsman he also studied the ways of magic and became a sorcerer. He hates all the minions of Melkor, the Black Enemy and still seeks revenge for the destruction of his beloved city, Ost-in-Edhil.

Nalnain Gentlehand recently left the Blue Mountains, his home for two hundred years. The old dwarf is a Firebeard, and intensely proud of his vivid red beard. A little short-sighted and deaf on occasion, he makes an unlikely warrior. To his mind this is because he has spent his whole life mining and toy-making. Though a popular dwarf in his hold, many considered him strange, since his interest in toys extended to watching over and playing with the little ones. Many forgave him this strangeness partly because of his wife, whose name would be Star of the North in Mannish tongues, and who was much loved in the Blue Mountains. Nalnain had a son, Nalnorn, a strong warrior. As Nalnorn grew in might he became obsessed with Moria, convincing himself that the Firebeards should have helped the Longbeards retake it. After Star of the North died in a mining shaft collapse Nalnorn disobeyed his father’s will and set out to scout out Moria. Nalnain meanwhile became withdrawn, and was found only in the deepest shafts, or imbibing ale by the barrel.

One day Nalnain shouldered his possessions and left the Mountains without a word. His journeys took him to the Shire, where he occupied himself running errands for the Hobbits and making toys for their children. He ventured to Bree and aided the watchmen, and befriended the Man children there also. Those adults who met him found him cold and grim, intent only on finding battles to bloody his axe.

In the Pony he met a Hobbit named Barnabas, and an elf called Marlynna who took him to seek out the truth behind the dread Beast of Frogmorton. The Elf lass’ courage and the Hobbits’ joyful demeanor lifted his spirit. Later he encountered his kinsman Rakhn Bloodbeard, an unruly dwarf he remembered as a friend of Nalnorn. Nalnain was able to unburden his heart, and Rakhn pledged accompany him to Moria one day. Rakhn took him to Rivendell, to offer their axes to Lord Elrond against roaming orcs. There Nalnain found himself telling the Lord and elf maidens with him of his woe and departed a little heartened. Still he fears the Firebeard line is failing, and that Aule has forsaken him. Perhaps the great elf lord, or the dwarves of Erebor, will calm his heart and arm his resolve, before the descent into Moria to find Nalnorn’s bones.

They are both up on the website now.

Go on then. Ill redirect us again

    http://forums.wireplay.co.uk/showthr...5&pagenumber=3

This thread should provide some guidance as to what i need image wise.

Just attach a screen grab to an email (zip it up if its a tga/tif or bmp as these are large uncompressed formats) and send it to me at the address provided on the website.

Alternatively zip the image and send it to me via mIRC (i will have to be available to accept the transfer or i wont get it). To send a file in mIRC to another mIRC user, highlight their name in the list of members, right click it, select "DCC" and choose "Send". Then browse to the file on your drive to send it to the recipient.

    Sereg-Mirth Almir

A bookworm to the core of his being, Sereg has been the quasi-permanent resident of the Rivendell library for almost as long as he's been able to stand. Much to his dismay, he was gently shoved out by Hir Elrond as the library was in dire need of renovations. Since then, he has spent most of his time roaming between towns searching for a good book to read. Relatively young, he knows practically nothing of the outside world but tries to conceal it with his extensive useless knowledge.

He met many new friends on his journey including the ancient Alasse, Galia the She-Devil, Kyle the Cook, Isaniel the wild girl, her cousin Marlynna and many others whose company he very much enjoys. He has recently been promoted to a very important position as a reward for his devotion for knowledge.

//uhm that's it for me... is it too short? If so please feel free to comment, anyone.

I liked the referance to his friends but its a bit of an in joke without a bit more detail. No mention of his parents or where he was born or the 'magic item' rational you use to explain Sereg's spells. You've done a lot of interesting stuff with Sereg in game that hasn't come accross here. So, I feel it is a bit short but its a very promising start.

Well it was 2 am when I wrote it, you know... Interesting stuff with Sereg, you say? Okay, who hacked in my account?

    Take 2:

Much to his dismay, he was gently shoved out by Hir Elrond as the library was in dire need of renovations. Relatively young, he knows practically nothing of the outside world but tries to conceal it with his extensive useless knowledge.

He met many new friends on his journey including the ancient Alasse, Galia , Kyle Gallagher, Isaniel the wild girl, her cousin Marlynna and many others whose company he very much enjoys. His only way of helping them on their various journeys was to use some magical artifacts he loves to collect. He has recently been promoted to a very important position as a reward for his devotion for knowledge.

    Lightbulb

When sending me images for portrait pics please try to get the characters head and body to fill the screen when you take the screen cap. It means i have a decent image i can enhance to use as the portrait. The aliasing on the images (as most people dont turn the anti aliasing on for logical performance reasons) makes a hell of a mess unless the image is big enough to shrink down.

Please Please try to send it like i ask for it, otherwise your character's portrait will end up looking a bit poor next to others.

Please remember to do this. I keep linking to the post where i explain why this should be but at least half the time the images i get are too small for me to properly work with.

    Cheers

    Rahkn Bloodbeard

Born in a secluded hold of the Blue Mountains, and orphaned within a few short years of his birth, Rakhn developed uncontrollable and terrifying rages from a very young age. These rages hindered his battle training although he seemed to have a natural strength and skill with the axe that made up for his lack of training. His rages also meant that he had few close friends and fewer still would enter battle by his side; once possessed of his great anger he often had trouble telling friend from foe.

One Dwarf who was couragous enough to stand beside Rakhn was Nalnorn. They were both still young for such duties, Nalnorn the younger again, but their skill in battle led them to join several patrols in the Blue Mountains defending their hold against raids by Orcs, Trolls and other foul creatures, and quickly earning Rahkn his name of Bloodbeard.

During one of these patrols Rakhn, overcome by fury and bloodlust, seriously wounded one of the veterans of the patrol. Overcome by remorse and anger at his lack of control, Rakhn left the Blue Mountains and began to wander the lands of the West. During his travels, ranging from Forochel down through the Shire, Breelands and Tharbad, over the Misty Mountains and even as far as his cousins in Erebor, Rakhn slowly began to take command of his inner anger, learning to suppress and direct his berserk rages with more and more control. The self-discipline required for this task has also seemed to forge Rakhn from something of an aimless maverick to fast approaching traditional Dwarven beliefs and values. He has even been seeking to develop some skill at the anvil.

Not too long ago Rakhn met Nalnain Gentlehand, the sire of his childhood friend Nalnorn, and learned that young Nalnorn had left the hold not long after Rakhn, seeking the great Dwarven city of Khazad Dum. With Nalnain seeking to find news of his son, Rakhn seems to have adopted the gentle old Dwarf as something of a paternal figure feeling a fondness for the soppy old sod that he would never admit and vowing to himself to try and protect Nalnain until he finds Nalnorn or evidence of his passing.

(OOC: Probably not the best, but it'll do. I've got a picture but my domain seems to be down so I'll get hang on and see what's going on there or I'll get it to another way.)

I'm sure that is only a problem if you want a weekly update, that might get a little burdensome!

Not on the topic of this thread but - likewise with in-game descriptions, these can be edited to reflect your characters' experiences. Send me the text and I'll make the changes.
