Hello, hello, I was on last night for a few hours, and the ammount of work that has been put into this is truely amazing, I'm going to love it here, Thank you for all your hard work.
Anderric Telnesh grew up in an orphanage, while he lived there, he stole from the kitchens and snuck around at night, they thought he was crazy because he has an impediment that causes him to studder, slur words, and mis-spell words. He ran away from the orphanage to get away from them. Hes generally friendly, but don't get on his bad side or he'll yell crazily at you and flail about!
I only currently have Anderric who is going to be a level 4 rogue soon. Once again, thank you for all your work on this world! I hope to see you all online.
I think i've spotted you on occasion, very impressive stuff. Thankyou for the kind words![]()
I'm a new player. I used to play on Dragon Myrth too (May Eru grant it eternal rest) and int19h recommended this server. I would like to remake my favorite character from dragon myrth on your server, but I don't know if she fits your server. She was an half-orc mute monk.
You definitely can't have her the same way she was because no good orcs are allowed (and remembering how 3/4 of all PC orcs on DM were good, I consider it a good thing).
You should be able to find all rules/guidelines on character creation here:
http://merpuk.wireplay.co.uk/pages/MERPUKmanual.pdf
However as int19h has said all orcs/half orcs must be of evil alignment.
In case I havent already --- let me extend a warm welcome (from the bottom of my battered hat) to all the new players who have joined us recently.
As you are new here there will be certain things that are unfamiliar in the way we do things and I have been impressed tonight with how willing some of you have been to seek guidance/clarification on even mundane matters if you have concerns that the issue will impact on the world and the RP within it. Well done to the player in question who spoke with me in mIRC.
One important point is to remember that we are an established community and because you may be accustomed to different ways on other servers, pease listen to and take on board any direction or guidance offered ingame (or for that matter out) by one of the DMs. One player was reluctant to accept such guidance today and it was a bit of a shame because they had been doing so well. Please do not respond with such phases as, and i am paraphrasing here: "so do you presume to know the way that the world works better than my character" or words to that effect. Well funnily enough, yes, that's more or less my job description
Please dont do this. Please. It does one of 2 things. Undermines the DMs authority and ability to do his job as he sees fit, because in the interests of keeping the peace the player gets the final word and the DM has been overruled by a player, or the point gets argued over until both sides are rather cross and weary of it. This creates bad feeling all round. We dont want that.
Whatever position you held on other severs, and however you may feel that you know best, please accept guidance as offered and then we both move on. Sorry if this post is a bit negative but i did feel something needed to be pointed out.
Thanks a lot and welcome once again.

Hello Everyone, Figured Id introduce myself. Names Matthew, and Im from over here in North Amercian in Canada. Im a relatively recent graduate from university who is just started worken. As for roleplaying iv been active doen that for a long time now, but Iv never really played in a LOTR community. Iv read all the books twice now (before and after the movies) and seen the movies many times.
Anyway I look forward to seeing what this server can offer and what I can offer to the server!.
Cheers,
Matt
Right now, my newbie char which I have so far is
Threkk Stonehammer lvl 1 fighter.
For a long time our small clan (you would call us woodmen) lived in peace and unnoticed by the world in the northern parts of what you call Mirkwood. From time to time one of the elves passed at our little village and we exchanged news from the surrounding parts of the forest. But during the past years we felt that the balance of live and death, of growing and harvesting, given to us by the Great Mother was shaken to its very roots. Our scouts spotted giant vermin in the woods, larger than everything we knew before. Evil creatures came from the south, cutting trees without need. After that hunters in shimmering armor came, called themselves "Knights" or "Paladins" and their task was to eliminate evil for all times. But you must know that there cannot be good without evil, you only must take care that neither side is able to dominate the world.
So I was sent by my clan to investigate the cause of the unbalance, as I am the oldest of my people. A wise man they call me. I am accompanied by my dearest friend Carch, who was directed to my side by Yavanna herself it seems.
I will beginn my investigations in a samll town called Bree and if you are not afraid by a big cat, you may freely talk to me and help me undertand the manners of the so called civilized world.
Hello there, i echo all the wonderfulwelcome statements.
*occasional literature may be stumbled apon in all the western communitys describing the work done by Many of the Clergy and devotees of The Valar,in general this type of flyer describes Mana devotee of Ulmo, whom offers you shelter, food, clothing, referal to welfare groups throughout the known lands, access to legal representation and may provide details of 'safe houses' for those in threat of their lives or in need of 'relocation'. The Orphanage and Temple of the Valars doors is open to all as are its memebers and the arms of Sister Mana*
Hello everyone:
Last night I connected for the second time. I must admit the first time was not big deal because I found no one "alive" (so it was like playing offline), but yesterday I was warmly greeted and it engouraged me to connect more often.
Anyway, the idea of re-create the world of Tolkien was the thing that most appealed me when I discovered your community, and I expect I will get to know most of you with time. Oh, by the way, I hope you forgive my language mistakes and wrong spellings.
One last thing: this is in fact the first time I play online to NWN, so I hope Miss Tanglefoot (I believe that was the name), the hobbit I met last night, may excuse me for my behaviour, quite impolite at the beginning.
Oh, and I almost forgot to introduce my alter ego in Middle Earth:
Talion Aldaninquë, Silvan elf ranger. Not accustomed to being surrounded by people but eager to find his own place in society.
Welcome![]()
Hi!
I play a new hobbit character. His name is Drail Ferrymill and unfortunately he suffers from amnesia. The only thing he can
recollect are vague images of his parents.
If any one can aid him in the quest for finding his parents, he
would be most grateful.
He is a quiet hobbit fighter, Harfoot. Quite skilled with a sword
but maybe not the great warhero you would like to accompany
you on a giant dragonslaying quest. At least not yet.
He often hangs out at the Green Dragon Inn.
And he also likes to write poetry, and to read poetry
to other people.
If you buy him an ale at the inn, i can guarantee you
that he will read you one of his poems if you just ask him.
He should seek out the Fellowship of the Members in Good Standing of the Four Farthings Social Club. They meet in the Green Dragon now and again. Im sure theyd make him welcome.

Hello!
Im am planning to play on MERPUK (currently downloading CEP 1.52 and getting increasingly mad with it) and looking forward to it. Last night I stumbled across a small comment by DM KEV, posted on NWNVault regarding some other Middleearth-Server (Stormplay) which I left for much the same reasons some time before it finally went down. Ever since I left SP I wondered what it would be like to play on a REAL roleplaying Server with a real middleearth setting. Yesterday night I found this forum and from what I see here this just could be the thing I want![]()
I am not hardly a new player, since I have played NWN on various PWs for some years, though not without the occasional break. Stormplay was my first server where the game-language was english. Since I am german, this presented some problem but in the end, I got along well enough I guess (not least probably due to the fact that most of the kids playing there didn't seem to notice my mistakes). It may not be as easy here and what is more I haven't had a lot of training in recent month, so please be patient and excuse my insufficient usuage of your great language! I promise to try as hard as possible.
Hoping to meet all of you soon!
Sendling
Allmost forgot: My first character will be Eolf, a young man from Edoras.

Almost a year on from making those very controversial comments, its good to see that I was right
Welcome to our community. Don't hesitate to ask if you are stuck or unsure about anything.![]()
I have to say, I'm somewhat confused what I did
wrong, or If I did something wrong.
The other day, I started out in the beginners lounge
again. My XP was intact, and my stuff, but the quests
I had finished, wasn't finished anymore.
Does anyone know the reason. Because, if it were
because I did something wrong, I would like to know
what I did wrong so I can correct it.
Because I have to say, God Dammit what a Great Server!
It was probably after a server reset - our quests aren't persistant over a reset.
One of the main reasons for this is that as you advance to areas away from the start of the world quest completion is rewarded with a token that allows access to the next quest in the string.
It also doesn't allow quests to be endlessly repeated as tokens close off quests as well as opening new ones, and most quests in the starter areas are only available up to a certain level.
Anytime you log on and find yourself in the start area it means the server has been reset (for processing/performance reasons) and your journal will have reset - gold, money, equipment and xp however is persistant.
Oh, thank you. Then I can relax.
Smart idea with the tokens.
See ya in Middle-Earth!
Thanks for the welcome to DM_Kev and all the people I have met allready!
My first impressions: Awesome work here! I am amazed by what has been achieved by bringing in the additional haks and using them well. That said, it still is far from usual to see every single item of cloth/armour I've come across sofar designed from scratch and nicely so (with the possible exception of the stuff in the shops). The dialouges are complex and do a lot for improving the atmosphere of the gameworld, the areas are beautyfull, well structured and it is obvious how much work went into that, too... I could continue that list for quite some time, but I am sure YOU all know what has been done and how much work, time, thinking and patience it took. I am amazed. Since in my experience there is no such thing as "too good to be true", I will simply continue to enjoy it.
Keep it up, please, it's great work!

Keep your eyes open for an announcement being made sometime in October
Glad you are enjoying the game.
Hi.
I'm another of the small band of former Dragon Myrth players. It seemed like quite a few of the old gang were here, and so...
What a beautiful server (visually), and some very nice RPing too.
Warm Winds and Hello
I am new to your server……and kudos are in order. Thank you for putting together such a nice little roleplay atmosphere…i.e. good clientele. The scripts are astounding and well thought out….not to mention the extensive amount of authenticity this server is oozing with visually and poetically. Even the embellishments taken to further expand a d&d geeks chance to finally explore middle earth are tasteful and in spirit. (They usually are not…especially most who write/play neverwinter nights mods)….Not to sound too modern but this place rocks.
My Character
Belyn, neutral good, ranger/fighter, 2/2
Son of Brimguest, son of Brouthaer, great great grandson of Brak Muhr’Ghan is of Wose (Pukel-Men, Drug, Oghor-hai, Rogin….to name but a few regional names) heritage but of a distant evolved line. For many generations this sect of Wose nomads have wandered the regions east of the Greenway, North of the River Mitheithel, and South of the Great East Road aiding those who have stood against the servants of Sauron, the Necromancer of Dol Guldar. It was Brak Muhr’Ghan Horn-Heeder who while in the Druadan Forest was the only of his people to not run in fear of Nahar as Orome sounded terribly on Valaroma proclaiming his need. Brak Muhr’Ghan came to the feet of the great Ainu and was set within him a fire to burn. It was put into his simple wood-dwelling mind to venture out of Druadan and find glory and death fighting the foes of Arnor, the Sorcerous Kingdom of Angmar. Alas his mind was perplexed at such a different purpose being put before him, he only knowing wood and animal lore as all of his people prized. Orome pitied him and put into him, as gift, the knowledge or swordplay and armament that he might be a double edged instrument of the Valar. With his epiphany Brak Horn-Heeder took a group of men, women, and children that they might begin this pilgrimage of war against the servants of Shadow. Nomadic and always adapting to the regions they helped defend became a pronounced presence in the South Downs even having some hand in the throwing down of the Witch King of Angmar. Often working along side the Dunedain, yet subtly and often unnoticed to a degree that they were looked over by all but their closest allies. Just as the Dunedain over years, were viewed as just ‘Houseless Rangers’ the line of Brak Muhr’Ghan Horn-heeder was of even less memory. Generations moved on and the nomadic woodsmen took to wife many of the surrounding regions including the small Hamlet of Bree. It is of this line that Belyn, Son of Brimguest, has come. Offering what he has to the Dunedain in their secret protection of the West. A wood-dwelling nomad of the Southern Downs still keeping in his heart the fire kindled by The Huntsman Orome, Ainu and Monster-Slayer.
Sorry for being a ‘detail-geek’…I just love this Mythology.
I am interesting in participating in some actual ‘DMed’ games that I might explore this (and I am sure other) charater more. I would very much like to become affiliated with the Dunedain and develop some language skill for this character….i.e. Quendi, Sindarin, etc…..I’m rockin a 14 intel and wanna use it….haha.
See you guys online

It pleases me to see that my intentions of the module are being met
And don't worry about giving your characters lots of detail. This world welcomes many walks of life. Your characters can be as complicated or as simple as you wish so long as it fits into the community. Nobodys stopping you from sitting in the taverns sampling their ales alll day, the same goes for slaying a few dozen monsters
DM events will be returning to us soon which im sure will be very popular.
Enjoy the game![]()
