as for "rocking a 14 int..."

How many servers have I roamed, trying to bring a 14 Int-fighter to work smoothly? Somehow, it invariably proofed to be a serious disadvantage in the build. Why ever did I convince myself that this time a mere cautious 13 would be in order? When this is the first server I ever played on where a low int really means your char WILL run into trouble because of it, even or perhaps especially if it's "just" a fighter? No, don't take me serious, I am not complaining, far from it It's just that things really are as they should be- and it came as a surprise.

There is reasonable room for debate to suggest that an intelligent and therefore more skilled character can outperform a 'brute force' character build in this gameworld. Just how I like it

I was brining it up only as it regards to language use...you know the whole 'i have a +2 intelligence modifier so I can speak two other languages than common speak'....but I guess in the long run it really does not matter.

    Questions of a Newbie

To Whom ever may be willing to help:

-I was wondering where the server setting stands in the timeline of the Third Age?
-For crafting where does one acquire materials….wood, metal ores etc…?
-I noticed there was a smiths anvil in Tharbad. I assume the anvil placeable serves as the crafting point.
-Are there other ‘anvils’ about in different areas?
-I read in the Players guide that there are setting specific feats and prestige classes
Are these represented in the feat/class selection windows on the level up screen?
-Why are all of the cool 'cep heads' not available when generationg a character?...I really prefer bearded dwarves

    Much oblige,
    usaerah

ps....just loving this server...finally a place where I am actually interested in playing online...yeah lo-magic

    To answer:

    1) - The setting is somewhere between Bilbo leaving the Shire and Frodo leaving the Shire. Sauron has been forced from Dol Guldur and resides once more in Mordor, Saruman's treachery has yet to come to light.

    2) - All the crafting materials are currently only available as loot drops. I believe they can be dropped by most creatures.

    3) - The selectable anvil in Tharbad is indeed a crafting point.

    4) - Um, not sure.

    5) - The feats I believe are specific to some of the setting specific classes. These do appear on level up - however they are prestige classes with certain pre-requisites so can't be immediatly selected. Ther are details of the pre-requisites in the manual and on our website: http://merpuk.wireplay.co.uk/pages/PRC.htm

    6) - They should be selectable. I myself have access to all the CEP heads on characetr creation for the module - haveing said that Iknow some others haven't. The easiest way is to get a CEP head pack from the NWN vaults and following the instructions for installing it to ensure access to the heads.

    Hello,

Another new player here. I've been on for the last day and a half. The place is a treat visually. The key NPC's (Sam, Frodo etc) and some of the conversation options make it a very immersive experience. Right now, I'm playing a crazy hobbit, Periodoc. Feel free to tap him on his shoulder anytime. Cheers and see you online sometime.

    Lo, people!

Had the pleasure of joining this PW a few days back, and I'll have to say this is a solid piece of... gold. Excellent visuals, great atmosphere, and let me say, DMs and players with great dedication! I, myself, play a female character, a kind of druid, or a servant of nature. Goes by the name of Neryada Tallfern, a tall human, clad in olive green garments, and a huge canine companion, Willock, often at her side. She is easy to approach, although often suspicious of strangers. Nature, the wildlands and it's inhabitants are close to Neryada's heart. She holds them in great respect and expects much the same from her companions. Although a very talkative person, she is less concerned about manners and may be somewhat intimidating at times. She has a strong will and a path of life, which she unerringly follows, sometimes in disregard of others. A loyal friend nonetheless, for those who share an affinity to nature akin to hers.

Neryada and her companion, Willock, can be often seen exploring the wildlands of the north.

Well, then, a few words about myself: I am relatively new to NWN, been playing it for few months now, but I do have a long history with computer RPGs, especially the Baldur's Gate series. I prefer playing the ranger/druid-kinda character, whose ideals don't differ
too much from my own. I'm also a long-time fan of Tolkien's writing, and Middle-Earth related stories.

Ok, there's something for you. I'm not as picky with friends, as my character might sometimes be, by the way. I'm only here to enjoy the game, and bring a little something of my own into it.

    Cheers,

    Jhasoe

    Hello-

Another Dragon Myrth type looking for another ME home... seem to have found it.

Not very far along with my Hobbit, Illibie, but looking forward to running in to other players and actually RP'ing a bit.

The world is gorgeously rendered, and expansive.... feel free to Tell Illibie if you see him on. I'd like to meet other players.

    Thanks!

    Greetings
Salus, I am Darathen Erelesste,i have been since pen and paper, even played with gary gygax, i play multi class paladins, usually paladin fighter rogue, but that wont do now so back to the original,paladin/rogue, this has been my build since d&d,have played it everywhere from sfbay to sfbay revived dedicated texan,to one ring, to many more ,even arkania where my tower minas arkan stands, youll even find me with a google search, but now it seems that after 30 yrs, my build is cheesy according to namo mandos and shant be allowed, this brings me sorrow as it had seemed that i would truly enjoy merpuk, but i suppose this is not to be; iv'e read all rules and proscriptions once more since i was told id been cheesy these last 30 yrs from pen and paper to all nwn variants, and i still can not find anything that would preclude my playing my build.Could i get some input on this please?

if the paladin rogue was DEX based that would be more acceptable.

As hes Dunedain, perhaps even Paladin Ranger.

I believe an offer was made to help you sort it out but you werent interested unfortunately.

This isnt the place to discuss caharcter bulids. Lets keep on topic guys.

i figured it was best solved in the forum as per server rules, not ingame "please do not argue with a DM's decision ingame" and im still not sure what you mean by "sorting it out" as for off topic it is my introduction as a new player to the server and also is covered under its own topic "Greetings" thank you all in advance for your time and effort in dealing with this matter

This thread is to allow new players to introduce themselves. Please post about characters in the UTT2 forum.

It would be nice if you didn't argue with DM's full stop. Nevetheless, take your concerns to the appropriate thread.

If you have a problem with a certain DM, you are welcome to contact me with your concerns.

    Thankyou.

    Hello!
Just logged in to check the forums before creating a character on the server. Have been around a bit with a try out PC and the world is really beutiful, one of the nicest ones Ive ever seen actually. The only thing that disturbed me a bit is some doors that you can open but not enter the house (these should either be locked or you should be able to enter), but I guess that is something that will be fixed later on. In total, really nice game world you have built. Dont no about the rp quality though (didnt encounter anyone else) but if I read the rules right the standard should be pretty high. I love playing dwarves (my first dwarf was back in the old D&D game "Keep on the Borderland" and Ive been stuck with them since then) so I will probably play one this time around. Dont know that much about Middle earth (well, Ive read the books ones about 15 years ago and seen the movies, but not much else) but I guess I will figure things out eventually. Hope to see you all in game! Take care.

*Lolinus grins a wicked grin as he flicks the last of the orcish blood away from the blade of his axe*

Reet, soon there'll be enough of us to finally hunt down all damn Dragins!

*With that he knocks back yet another Aule's and charages back into the fray, laughing happily as he hews the orcs down.*

By the way. Saw in the manual that PC dwarves choosing Rogue as a class is frowned upon. Im thinking of building a dwarven engineer (or rather, in DD terms a multi class rogue/fighter, with nothing invested in the stealth skills). Is this also frowned upon?

Not if hes a DEX based fighter, thats OK (but not very Dwarven).

Thing with Rogue combos is the sneak attack. We have issues with clumsy blokes in heavy armour getting sneak attacks, and then theres the UMD... *ick*.

Nope, Im not thinking of a dex based fighter (as you said, not very dwarven ). Im thinking of a tank with a lot of skill points in open locks, search appraise and everything that would suit a dwarven engineer. Guess I have to abandon the idea for something else then

You could go for a non-singing bard. That way you still get all the skills and same HD, but no sneaks. And you don't have to sing either, or, for that matter, have CHA above 10.

Hi everyone, my name is Cindi Angelheart, a Paladiin from Rohan. I just wanted to say I love it here, I have played many other servers and nothing compares to this place, the level of rollplay is like nothing I have ever seen. I must say it is a bit intimidating to come here at first, I knew little of Tolkien except having read the hobbit and seeing the Movies, this was not enough preparation to interact well with the people around here...but I'm working on it. Anyway I just wanted to say Hi, and to say I am bringing other people here also, If ever anyone needs help destroying evil (undead are my specialty) I'm your girl. Thanx for reading
